The objectives of this review include the conceptualization of the health-related quality of life effects of prenatal diagnosis and a brief summary of evidence on the short- and long-term effects of prenatal diagnosis on the health-related quality of life effects associated with chorionic villi sampling and genetic amniocentesis and the identification of important unresolved issues. Although this is not a systematic review, it is an update of published research on the utility approach to assessing the health-related quality of life in prenatal diagnosis. It is based on a search of publications by investigators known to be active in the area and a hand search of selected specialized journals. Important health states associated with prenatal diagnosis include both process (undergoing testing) and outcome. Empirical studies providing preference scores for health states associated with prenatal diagnosis highlight the importance of long-term outcomes relative to process. On average with respect to process, chorionic villi sampling is less burdensome than genetic amniocentesis. On average with respect to infrequent but potentially important outcomes as health states associated with diagnostic inaccuracy, genetic amniocentesis is less burdensome than chorionic villi sampling. Almost all of the existing evidence on the health-related quality of life effects of prenatal diagnosis reports on the experience of the women undergoing prenatal diagnosis. The preferences of partners have not been assessed. Furthermore, few studies have investigated subsequent reproductive behavior. Finally, there is considerable scope for the use of preference elicitation techniques in helping couples to decide on whether or not to undergo prenatal diagnosis and if they do, help them to choose the modality that best suites their preferences.

Objective: Recent guidelines suggest that non-invasive prenatal screening (NIPS) should be offered to all patients with singleton and twin pregnancies. Accurate determination of fetal fraction in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is vital for reliable NIPS outcomes. We propose a methylation-based approach using droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) and methylation-sensitive restriction enzyme (MSRE) digestion for fetal fraction quantification as an affordable and fast solution.

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic efficacy and detection value of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and VEGF in menacing pernicious placenta previa (PPP).
Method: Among all the cases of PPP, a critical condition within the Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) caused by aberrant implantation of the placenta in the uterine wall, which were analyzed between April 2021 and March 2023, there were sixty-three cases. The control group consisted of those sixty-three women who had a normal placenta.

This study explores the effect of aspirin on preeclampsia (PE) and analyzes the influencing factors of PE in high-risk pregnant women. We encompassed 110 high-risk pregnant women receiving prenatal examination at Maternal and Child Health Hospital of Yichang City between January 2022 and December 2023, categorized them into the intervention group (n=58,received aspirin therapy), and the control group (n=52, didn't receive pharmaceutical prophylaxis). Clinical and laboratory parameters were compared between groups, with logistic regression performed.

For parents, prenatal diagnosis of genetic diseases represents a traumatic life event from a psychological point of view. With this in mind, it is interesting to understand how the clinical system of prenatal diagnosis can be adapted to a particularly vulnerable population, represented by women and couples from cultures different from those of the host country, from a transcultural perspective.

Obstetric care for patients with cancer diagnoses during pregnancy is medically and ethically complex, and limited prospective data and national guidelines are available to guide care. Guiding principles for treatment are to optimize maternal outcomes while minimizing neonatal morbidity. Oncologic work- up and management are dependent on the trimester of diagnosis, and are specific to the type, stage, and grade of the oncologic diagnosis.
