Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a potentially fatal condition with variable clinical presentations, ranging from classic respiratory symptoms to rare atypical manifestations. This report describes a 47-year-old woman who presented with acute, severe right upper quadrant abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting without respiratory complaints. Initial investigations, including abdominal ultrasound and contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen, revealed no intra-abdominal abnormalities.

Although studies have examined the association of the Relative Fat Mass (RFM, a novel anthropometric index used as a surrogate for whole-body fat percentage) with all-cause mortality, the association of RFM with diabetes-related mortality and heart disease mortality has not been thoroughly investigated. In addition, no study has compared the associations of RFM and waist circumference (a surrogate for intra-abdominal fat) with cause-specific mortality and all-cause mortality. In the present study, we addressed these knowledge gaps.

Upper para-aortic lymph node dissection (PALND) is one of the most challenging gynecologic robotic procedures. This study aimed to evaluate the oncologic and operative outcomes of robotic staging surgery, including upper PALND, using low pelvic port placement (LP3) in 22 patients with high-risk endometrial cancer. High-risk was defined as patients who showed deep myometrial invasion with grade III, cervical involvement, or high-risk histology.

Spontaneous hepatic rupture is a rare complication that occurs in pregnant mothers with HELLP syndrome, or preeclampsia with severe features, or eclampsia. The most common symptom of hepatic rupture/hematoma is right upper quadrant pain or epigastric pain, which is similar to the presentation of preeclampsia with severe features. Therefore, the absence of specific signs and symptoms leads to a diagnostic dilemma and a delay in management.

Department of Cardiology, Institute of Geriatric Medicine, Beijing Hospital, National Center of Gerontology, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, 1 DaHua Road, Beijing, 100730, China.

Background: Frailty poses a considerable public health challenge because of its association with negative health consequences. Although obesity is recognized as a contributor to frailty, conventional measures fail to adequately account for the effects of visceral adiposity. The study aimed to investigate the associations between the visceral adiposity index (VAI) or lipid accumulation product (LAP) and frailty.
