miRNAs have emerged as key regulators of gene expression in both plants and animals. These small (generally 21-22 nt) RNA molecules, originated from primary "hairpin" transcripts, can induce translational suppression or direct mRNA cleavage. Similar to regular mRNAs, the expression of miRNAs is highly regulated. Their expression pattern could provide critical clues to understanding miRNA functions. However, many previously identified miRNA families have multiple paralogous loci. Within each family, different members are often closely related and sometimes give rise to identical miRNAs. This poses critical challenges in the analysis of individual miRNA genes. This chapter describes several methods that are commonly used for miRNA expression analysis, including high-throughput sequencing, microarrays, and briefly discusses qRT-PCR, northern blotting, and other approaches used for data validation.

Coccidiosis, a parasitic disease caused by Eimeria protozoa that parasitizes intestinal tissues of chicken, poses a challenge to the development of the poultry industry. circRNAs are a class of circular RNA macromolecules crucial in the immune response to pathogens. Previous studies have shown that gga-miR-2954 inhibits the inflammatory response to Eimeria tenella (E.

Cadmium (Cd) is a silvery-white and shiny heavy metal that is common in daily life and can adversely affect the development, lifespan, and reproduction of organisms. In this study, Drosophila melanogaster (F) were cultured from eggs to adults in medium containing different Cd concentrations (0, 2.25, and 4.

Next-generation cancer phenomics by deployment of multiple molecular endophenotypes coupled with high-throughput analyses of gene expression offer veritable opportunities for triangulation of discovery findings in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) research. This study reports differentially expressed genes in NSCLC using publicly available datasets (GSE18842 and GSE229253), uncovering 130 common genes that may potentially represent crucial molecular signatures of NSCLC. Additionally, network analyses by GeneMANIA and STRING revealed significant coexpression and interaction patterns among these genes, with four notable hub genes-, , and -identified as pivotal in NSCLC progression.

This study investigates the influence of miR-128-2-5p within serum-derived exosomes (Exos) on COL6A2 expression and its implications in postmenopausal osteoporosis (POMP). Utilizing bioinformatics analysis, we identified 1317 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), primarily enriched in the focal adhesion pathway-a critical regulator of osteoblast adhesion. A significant gene, COL6A2, emerged as notably downregulated in POMP, possessing potential as a diagnostic marker.
