Leprosy relapse is the reappearance of the disease after regular treatment with current regimens and discharge due to cure. In this retrospective and descriptive cohort study, the aim was to evaluate the characteristics of cases of leprosy relapse in the State of Espírito Santo between 2000 and 2005. The investigation strategies consisted of monitoring the SINAN entries, with file analysis and case discussions at the State Reference Center. One hundred and four cases of relapse were studied, representing 1.12% of the new cases detected over this period. The greatest frequency was between 21 and 60 years of age; 59.6% were men; 44.2% presented relapse more than five years after discharge; 66.4% were multibacillary; and 42.2% presented positive bacilloscopy (complete bacilli) and therefore were relapse cases. Negatives bacilloscopy was observed in 57.8%. Prospective studies should be conducted to establish the real relapse rate.

Introduction: Despite the availability of highly effective treatment for tuberculosis (TB), patients with TB may experience a relapse, which can be either a result of the disease reactivating or a new episode induced by reinfection. In Malaysia, there has been a noticeable rise in relapse TB cases, with a substantial rate of unsuccessful treatment outcomes among this population. This study seeks to examine the trends of unsuccessful treatment outcomes in relapse TB patients and explore how factors such as sociodemographic characteristics, TB disease profile, TB treatment profile, and comorbidities contribute to the outcomes.

Background And Methods: While leprosy primarily affects adults, childhood leprosy poses unique challenges because of its potential to cause lifelong disabilities and stigma. This is a retrospective record review of all patients aged 15 or below, diagnosed with leprosy, who were registered at the leprosy clinic of our tertiary care center from June 2014 to December 2023.
Results: As per hospital records, 1083 leprosy cases were registered at our center during the study period.

Background: Leprosy (Hansen's disease) is an infectious disease most common in resource-limited countries caused by the acid-fast bacilli Mycobacterium leprae and Mycobacterium lepromatosis that frequently affects the skin and peripheral nerves. Prompt diagnosis and treatment with multidrug therapy is crucial to reduce disease transmission and sequelae, which include nerve function impairment, ocular injury, and stigmatizing physical deformities. Traditional treatment of multibacillary leprosy consists of 12-24 months of multidrug therapy with dapsone, rifampin, and clofazimine.

Background: Dermatophytosis is a major public health concern in India, especially in recent years, with an alarmingly rising trend, particularly in relation to recurrent and chronic infection. The number of studies examining the relationship between an individual's glycemic status and the development of dermatophytosis, and a comparison of the evolving species trend between diabetic and non-diabetic patients infected with dermatophytes, is limited.
Aims And Objectives: To study and compare the clinical and mycological aspects of dermatophytosis among diabetic and non-diabetic patients and to compare the culture isolates in both groups.
