Objective: To assess the feasibility of sentinel lymph node (SLN) biopsy in gynecologic malignancies using natural orifices transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) in an animal model.
Methods: Ten female pigs were operated. Patent blue dye was injected in the paracervical region. The endoscope was introduced through a right lateral colpotomy. Internal iliac vessels were visualized followed by the identification of external iliac vessels. Bilateral dissection was performed to achieve visualization of the aorta and the vena cava. SLN colored in blue were bluntly dissected and then excised.
Results: Mean operative time was 56+/-16 minutes. The mean number of SLN retrieved was 1.75+/-1.28. All but one SLN were identified by NOTES procedure. No major complication was observed in this series. A total of 19 SLN were harvested, of which 11 from the left side and 8 from the right side. Fifteen lymph nodes were obtained from the iliac vessels or the promontory and 4 from the lateral aortic or preaortic region.
Conclusions: In this study, we confirmed the feasibility of the SLN technique by NOTES. It can be considered as a potential alternative to reduce morbidity during staging procedures for gynecologic malignancies. Prospective randomized series are necessary to establish the safety and the real benefits of this new technique.

Introduction: Existing evidence suggests a lower uptake of cervical cancer screening among Indian women. Coverage is lower in rural than urban women, but such disparities are less explored. So, the present study was conducted to explore the self-reported coverage of cervical cancer screening in urban and rural areas stratified by socio-demographic characteristics, determine the spatial patterns and identify any regional variations, ascertain the factors contributing to urban-rural disparities and those influencing the likelihood of screening among women aged 30-49 years factors residing in urban, rural, and overall Indian settings.

The Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS) protein plays a key pathogenic role in oncogenesis, cancer progression, and metastasis. Numerous studies have explored the role of metabolic alterations in KRAS-driven cancers, providing a scientific rationale for targeting metabolism in cancer treatment. The development of KRAS-specific inhibitors has also garnered considerable attention, partly due to the challenge of acquired treatment resistance.

Background: Insulin resistance (IR) is a common pathophysiologic feature in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). However, there have been no studies investigating the association of IR surrogates with pregnancy outcomes in women with PCOS undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). Therefore, we explored the association between these factors among PCOS patients.

The connection between metabolic reprogramming and tumor progression has been demonstrated in an increasing number of researches. However, further research is required to identify how metabolic reprogramming affects interpatient heterogeneity and prognosis in clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). In this work, single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) based deconvolution was utilized to create a malignant cell hierarchy with metabolic differences and to investigate the relationship between metabolic biomarkers and prognosis.

Cervical cancer continues to disproportionately burden women in sub-Saharan Africa, and is the commonest gynecological cancer in Ghana. The Cervical Cancer Prevention and Training Centre (CCPTC), Battor, Ghana spearheaded the Ghana arm of the mPharma 10,000 Women Initiative (mTTWI) between September 2021 and October 2022. The aim of this study was to examine the outcomes of nationwide concurrent screening using high-risk human papillomavirus (hr-HPV) DNA testing and visual inspection methods, as well as factors associated with the screening outcomes.
