Objective: Babies born between 27 and 31 weeks of gestation contribute substantially towards infant mortality and morbidity. In England, their care is delivered in maternity services colocated with highly specialised neonatal intensive care units (NICU) or less specialised local neonatal units (LNU). We investigated whether birth setting offered survival and/or morbidity advantages to inform National Health Service delivery.

Palliative care (PC) is essential to improve quality of life for individuals with life-limiting acute neurological conditions, particularly in resource-limited settings. In Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), there is limited health care professional training and education on PC. We reviewed the peer-reviewed literature discussing end-of-life care, withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments (WOLST), and PC in the acute inpatient setting.

Modern quantitative image analysis techniques have enabled high-throughput, high-content imaging experiments. Image-based profiling leverages the rich information in images to identify similarities or differences among biological samples, rather than measuring a few features, as in high-content screening. Here, we review a decade of advancements and applications of Cell Painting, a microscopy-based cell-labeling assay aiming to capture a cell's state, introduced in 2013 to optimize and standardize image-based profiling.

The global incidence of thyroid cancer has increased over the past several decades. While this increase is partially due to increased detection, environmental pollutants have also emerged as a possible contributing factor. Our goal was to perform a systematic review to assess the relationship between environmental air pollution and thyroid cancer.

Experimental and numerical analyses were conducted to assess the effects of laser power, scanning speed, waterjet velocity, and waterjet standoff distance on key outcomes, such as kerf width, heat-affected zone, and recast layer thickness. The findings indicate that a laser power of 500 W, scanning speed of 15 mm/s, waterjet velocity up to 10 m/s, and waterjet standoff distance of 1 mm are optimal for reducing thermal damage and achieving precise kerfs.
