The polarization dependence of a diacetylene polymerization was studied. For this purpose, peptide amphiphile fibers with a diacetylene moiety, which could only polymerize in the direction of the fiber, were employed. If nonaligned samples were illuminated with polarized light, only the fibers parallel to the polarization direction of the light were polymerized. With magnetically aligned fibers, spatially selective polymerization was accomplished using polarization holography.

We propose and experimentally demonstrate liquid crystal-based computer-generated image holography enabled by the Pancharatnam-Berry phase modulation. Such a device exhibits distinctive properties, such as natural light illumination, polarization insensitivity, broadband optical response, high polarization conversion efficiency, and direct visibility to the naked eye. These unique attributes make this type of image holography a promising avenue for applications in optical information storage, anti-counterfeiting, and advanced information displays.

Metasurfaces have exhibited excellent capabilities in controlling main characteristics of electromagnetic fields. Thus, a lot of significant achievements have been attained in many areas especially in the fields of hologram and near-field imaging. However, some of these designs are implemented in a manner of interleaved subarrays that complicates the design and makes them difficult to achieve integration.

Metal single atoms (SA)-support interactions inherently exhibit significant electrochemical activity, demonstrating potential in energy catalysis. However, leveraging these interactions to modulate electronic properties and extend application fields is a formidable challenge, demanding in-depth understanding and quantitative control of atomic-scale interactions. Herein, in situ, off-axis electron holography technique is utilized to directly visualize the interactions between SAs and the graphene surface.

This paper reviews the field of cascaded metasurfaces, which are advanced optical devices formed by stacking or serially arranging multiple metasurface layers. These structures leverage near-field and far-field electromagnetic (EM) coupling mechanisms to enhance functionalities beyond single-layer metasurfaces. This review comprehensively discusses the physical principles, design methodologies, and applications of cascaded metasurfaces, focusing on both static and dynamic configurations.

The article describes a technique for digital holographic reconstruction of complex amplitude fields in diffuse blood facies using laser polarization-interference phase scanning to isolate a single scattered component of the object field. This method serves as the basis for developing algorithms for Mueller-matrix reconstruction of linear and circular birefringence parameters in the polycrystalline architectonics of blood facies. Statistical (central moments of the 1st-4th orders) and multifractal analyses (fractal dimension spectra) are applied to study the optical anisotropy maps of polycrystalline networks during blood dehydration.
