The mechanisms of the magnetic coupling interactions for two trigonal-bipyramid trinuclear Cu(II) complexes Cu3(mu3-X)2(mu-pz)3X3 (X = Cl and Br, respectively) and three trigonal trinuclear Cu(II) complexes Cu3(mu3-X)(mu-pz)3Cl3 (X = Cl, Br, and O) are investigated by the calculations based on density functional theory combined with broken-symmetry approach (DFT-BS). The research on the magneto-structural correlation reveals that the magnetic coupling interaction is sensitive to the Cu-(mu3-X)-Cu angle. With the Cu-(mu3-X)-Cu angle changing from 76 to 120 degrees, the magnetic coupling interaction is switched from ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic. According to the analysis of the molecular orbitals and the variation of the spin-state energies versus the ratio of the magnetic coupling constants, it is found that there exists spin frustration phenomenon in these complexes.

Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the hip, a rare cause of pelvic pain in the third trimester of pregnancy, often presents with nonspecific symptoms that resemble common musculoskeletal conditions. This ambiguity, coupled with concerns about the safety of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during pregnancy, can hinder timely diagnosis. We report a unique case of a 32-year-old primigravida diagnosed with a hip fracture and bilateral AVN of the femoral head in the immediate postpartum period, a complication seemingly not previously documented in pregnant patients.

Coherent manipulation of photochemical spin-triplet formation in quantum dot-molecule hybrids.

The interconversion between singlet and triplet spin states of photogenerated radical pairs is a genuine quantum process, which can be harnessed to coherently manipulate the recombination products through a magnetic field. This control is central to such diverse fields as molecular optoelectronics, quantum sensing, quantum biology and spin chemistry, but its effect is typically fairly weak in pure molecular systems. Here we introduce hybrid radical pairs constructed from semiconductor quantum dots and organic molecules.

The laminae of varying lithologies are characteristic of shale oil reservoirs, with their pronounced heterogeneity and fluid-solid coupling significantly impacting oil productivity. To this end, this study initially quantified the permeability and mechanical heterogeneity in lamina-developed shale through permeability tests and quasi triaxial mechanical experiments on shale cores from different orientations in the Jiyang Depression. These tests revealed marked brittleness in horizontally oriented cores and elasticity in vertically oriented cores.

An exotic quantum mechanical ground state, i.e. the nonmagnetic= 0 state, has been predicted for higher transition metal tsystems, due to the influence of strong spin-orbit coupling (SOC) or in other words, due to unquenched orbital moment contribution.
