This paper provides an overview of analytical techniques used to determine isoflavones (IFs) in foods and biological fluids with main emphasis on sample preparation methods. Factors influencing the content of IFs in food including processing and natural variability are summarized and an insight into IF databases is given. Comparisons of dietary intake of IFs in Asian and Western populations, in special subgroups like vegetarians, vegans, and infants are made and our knowledge on their absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion by the human body is presented. The influences of the gut microflora, age, gender, background diet, food matrix, and the chemical nature of the IFs on the metabolism of IFs are described. Potential mechanisms by which IFs may exert their actions are reviewed, and genetic polymorphism as determinants of biological response to soy IFs is discussed. The effects of IFs on a range of health outcomes including atherosclerosis, breast, intestinal, and prostate cancers, menopausal symptoms, bone health, and cognition are reviewed on the basis of the available in vitro, in vivo animal and human data.

Objective: The study aimed to evaluate the frequency of pathogenic copy number variants (CNVs) classified as incidental findings (IFs) in prenatal diagnosis and to develop consensus recommendations for standardizing their reporting across six centers within the Catalan public health system (XIGENICS network).
Method: A retrospective review of 4219 consecutive prenatal microarrays performed within the network from 2018 to 2023 was conducted, including all referral reasons. To develop consensus recommendations, several discussion meetings were held along with an extensive review of the existing literature.

Objectives: This study evaluated the representation of black researchers as authors of articles published in four peer-reviewed journals with the highest impact factors (IFs) in the field of sports science and sports medicine.
Methods: An analysis was conducted on articles published between 2018 and 2022 in four leading sports science journals with high IFs (2022): The British Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Sport and Health Science, Sports Medicine and Exercise Immunology Review. Data extraction from the articles included the researcher's names, sex/gender, total number of authors, number of black authors, their position in the author list, publication year, article title and type and digital object identifier.

Improving energy efficiency is crucial for smart factories that want to meet sustainability goals and operational excellence. This study introduces a novel decision-making framework to optimize energy efficiency in smart manufacturing environments, integrating Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets (IFS) with Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) techniques. The proposed approach addresses key challenges, including reducing carbon footprints, managing operating costs, and adhering to stringent environmental standards.

Objective: The aim of this study was to comprehensively investigate the clinical efficacy of intraoperative local joint injection and intramuscular injection of betamethasone in patients with severe traumatic knee osteoarthritis (KOA).
Methods: 80 patients with severe traumatic KOA undergoing total knee arthroplasty were retrospectively recruited and rolled into S1 group (intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + betamethasone and isotonic saline mixture at joint incision), S2 group (muscle local injection of betamethasone before incision closure, simultaneously intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + isotonic saline mixture at joint incision), and D group (intra-articular injection of ropivacaine + isotonic saline mixture at the joint incision). Visual analog scale (VAS) score, serum inflammatory factors (IFs), hospital for special surgery (HSS)score, Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI), and adverse reaction events (AREs) were analyzed.

Aims: To explore the relationship between impaired awareness of hypoglycemia (IAH) or severe hypoglycemia (SH), and health status and cognition in adults with type 1 diabetes (T1D).
Methods: T1D adults attending a tertiary diabetes service were recruited into this cross-sectional study. People screening positive for severe anxiety or depression were not included.
