Unlabelled: Bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) is believed to be the major component of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) that harms the urinary tract. Therefore, BOO relief is the primary treatment objective in patients with obstructive BPH. This systematic review aims to analyze urodynamic data of laser treatment modalities of the prostate in direct comparison with standard treatment (TURP or open prostatectomy). We systematically searched the literature for randomized-controlled trials (RCTs) of prostate laser treatments in which urodynamic results were compared to TURP or open prostatectomy. The literature search included articles that were published between January 1995 and January 2009. Thirty five RCTs were identified encompassing in total 3669 patients. Of all available laser treatments, only one RCT used pressure-flow data to compare the laser treatment of the prostate (holmium laser enucleation, HoLEP) with standard treatment. Improvement of maximum urinary flow rate (Q(max)) of free uroflowmetry was similar for contact laser ablation (CLAP) with Nd:YAG, interstitial laser coagulation with Nd:YAG, potassium potassium-titanyl-phosphate (KTP)/Nd: YAG hybrid treatment, and HoLEP. Qmax improvement was also similar for holmium laser ablation (HoLAP) with 60-80 Watts, holmium laser resection, and thulium laser resection but limited to only one study each. The laser hybrid therapy with CLAP/visual laser ablation of the prostate (VLAP)/Nd:YAG was inferior to TURP. VLAP and KTP showed inhomogeneous

Results: Most contemporary laser treatments modalities provide similar Qmax improvement compared to standard treatment. However, precise differences can only be determined by comparative computer urodynamic investigations. Therefore, new laser techniques (such as thulium laser vapoenucleation of the prostate) should be investigated by urodynamic studies in the future.

Multilayer thin films composed of dielectric BaCaZrTiO (BCZT) and oxygen-deficient BCZT (BCZT-OD) were fabricated on (001)-oriented NSTO substrates using the pulsed laser deposition (PLD) technique. Unlike conventional approaches to energy storage capacitors, which primarily focus on compositional or structural modifications, this study explored the influence of the layer sequence and periodicity. The interface between the NSTO substrate and the BCZT-OD layer forms a Schottky barrier, resulting in electric field redistribution across the sublayers of the BCZT/BCZT-OD//(1P) thin film.

A compact dual-gas sensor based on the two near-infrared distributed feedback diode lasers and a multipass cell has been established for the simultaneous measurement of methane (CH) and acetylene (CH). The time division multiplexing calibration-free direct absorption spectroscopy is used to eliminate the cross interference in the application of multicomponent gas sensors. A wavelength stabilization technique based on the proportion integration differentiation feedback control is developed to suppress laser wavelength drift and an H-infinity (H) filter algorithm to reduce the system noise.

Emerging Violet Phosphorus Nanomaterial for Biomedical Applications.

Violet phosphorus (VP) is a phosphorus allotrope first discovered by Hittorf in 1865, which has aroused more attention in the biomedical field in recent years attributed to its gradually discovered unique properties. VP can be further categorized into bulk VP, VP nanosheets (VPNs), and VP quantum dots (VPQDs), and chemical vapor transport (CVT), liquid-phase/mechanical/laser exfoliation, and solvothermal synthesis are the common preparation approaches of bulk VP, VPNs, and VPQDs, respectively. Compared with another phosphorus allotrope (black phosphorus, BP) that is once highly regarded in biomedical applications, VP nanomaterial (namely VPNs and VPQDs) not only exhibits tunable bandgap, moderate on/off current ratio, and good biodegradability, but shows enhanced stability and biosafety as well, allowing it to be a promising candidate for a variety of biomedical applications like antibacterial therapy, anticancer therapy, and biosensing and disease diagnosis.

Retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells undergoing epithelial‑mesenchymal transition (EMT) are a key factor in promoting the progression of subretinal fibrosis. The klotho protein and gene exert anti‑fibrotic effects in multiple fibrotic diseases. However, the mechanisms involved in the role of klotho are unclear in subretinal fibrosis.

An 83-year-old male with a history of radial keratotomy and laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) presented with symptoms of a non-resolving corneal ulcer in the right eye that had been present for five months. The patient was treated with antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal medications over that period, with multiple recurrences that prompted referral to our tertiary center for management. Following a 48-hour cessation of all medications, a corneal biopsy was performed which grew .
