Purpose: To determine the effect of mitomycin C (MMC) on the corneal endothelium after primary pterygium surgery.
Methods: This prospective, interventional, nonrandomized, observer-masked study included 46 consecutive patients (51 eyes) with primary pterygium. The bare sclera technique with 1-minute application of 0.02% MMC intraoperatively was used in all cases. The follow-up period was 3 months. Preoperative and postoperative central corneal specular microscopy was performed. The endothelial cell density, coefficient of variation of cell size, and percentage of hexagonal cells were analyzed, and the corneal thickness was measured.
Results: The mean endothelial cell densities preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively were 2382.35 +/- 342.07 cells per square millimeter (range, 1020-3129) and 2385.02 +/- 356.83 cells per square millimeter (range, 1001-3151), respectively (P = 0.96). The mean coefficients of variation of cell size preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively were 34.31 +/- 5.62 (range, 22-49) and 35.29 +/- 7.50 (range, 22-55), respectively (P = 0.17). The mean percentages of hexagonal cells values preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively were 52.98 +/- 7.32 (range, 32-71) and 51.61 +/- 8.98 (range, 32-67), respectively (P = 0.48). The mean pachymetry measurements preoperatively and 3 months postoperatively were 506.65 +/- 36.87 microm (range, 411-583) and 502.08 +/- 41.33 microm (range, 411-593), respectively (P = 0.99).
Conclusions: One intraoperative application of 0.02% MMC for 1 minute after primary pterygium surgery does not seem to cause substantial changes in the corneal endothelium at 3 months.

Background: To investigate the incidence and potential predictors of immune tolerance among adult living donor liver transplant (LDLT) recipients.
Methods: This case-control study included adult recipients who underwent LDLT between May 2004 and January 2018, with at least a 5-year follow-up after LDLT. We divided the study recipients into two groups: Group 1 (Tolerance Group) included recipients who achieved operational or prope tolerance for at least one year; Group 2 (Control Group) included recipients who did not achieve tolerance.
Background: To evaluate the associations between anatomical changes and visual outcomes after membrane peeling in eyes with different stages of idiopathic epiretinal membrane (iERM) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Methods: All iERM eyes were graded into four stages based on the presence of ectopic inner foveal layers (EIFL) and underwent 23-gauge vitrectomy combined with ERM and internal limiting membrane (ILM) peeling, while their fellow eyes were treated as the control group. OCTA was used to measure retinal thickness(RT), foveal avascular zone (FAZ)-related parameters and superficial and deep capillary plexus (SCP and DCP) layers using 6 × 6 mm scans before, 1 month and 3 months after surgery.

Design: The study is a prospective, double-blinded randomised control trial that compares the mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine as the pulp space barrier material after induction of a periapical blood clot by over-instrumentation for endodontic regeneration in single-rooted mature permanent anterior tooth (closed apex) with apical periodontitis (periapical pathology of more than 3 mm) and having necrosed pulp. A total of 36 patients were included in the study and after randomisation were allocated equally to both the groups out of which 31 patients returned for follow-up over an 18-month period. The treatment protocol consisted of two separate appointments.

Objective: As radiocephalic fistula is not necessarily appropriate for all patients with advanced kidney disease, our aim was to investigate the sensitive indicators that affect the functional primary patency of radiocephalic fistulas.
Methods: This prospective observational study included consecutive patients referred to the Second Hospital of Dalian Medical University for initial creation of radiocephalic fistula from July 2017 to December 2019. Preoperative ultrasound parameters, demographic characteristics, serum indicators and comorbidities were recorded.

Purpose: To evaluate the safety and efficacy of fibrin glue in preventing early recurrence of vitreous haemorrhage following surgery for proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR).
Design: Single masked randomized-controlled clinical trial SUBJECTS: Consecutive patients with vitreous haemorrhage due to PDR undergoing primary vitreoretinal surgery were screened. After completing all vitreoretinal manoeuvres including endo-cautery to bleeders, infusion pressure was gradually reduced to 5 mmHg.
