This article discusses the rare but serious occurrence of sedative hypnotic drug-induced sexual thoughts. We searched PubMed from the earliest date to February 7, 2023. Articles were selected if they provided data on sexual assault hallucinations or sexual fantasies associated with the use of sedative hypnotic drugs including benzodiazepines, propofol, nitric oxide, ether, chloroform, ketamine, or esketamine.

Objectives: To evaluate the 52-week safety/tolerability of oral olanzapine for adolescents with schizophrenia or bipolar mania and compare effectiveness of a standard versus intense behavioral weight intervention in mitigating risk of weight gain.
Methods: Patients 13-17 years old with schizophrenia (Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale for Children [BPRS-C] total score >30; item score ≥3 for hallucinations, delusions, or peculiar fantasies) or bipolar I disorder (manic or mixed episode; Young Mania Rating Scale [YMRS] total score ≥15) received open-label olanzapine (2.5-20 mg/day) and were randomized to standard (n = 102; a single weight counseling session) or intense (n = 101; weight counseling at each study visit) weight intervention.

Persistent genital arousal disorder is a rare condition among women characterized by unwanted and intrusive sexual arousal that can persist for an extended period of time and unrelated to sexual desire or sexual stimuli. Since its first documentation in 2001, numerous studies have been dedicated to investigate its specifics. The persistent genital arousal occurs in the absence of sexual interest and fantasies and it causes excessive psychological suffering.

These results were all obtained by dental anesthesiologists in our clinic actually conducting conscious sedation while observing the patients' response and appearance. Consequently, the anesthesiologist's preferences and skill seem to influence the drugs chosen and the method of use. In reviewing these 300 cases, we found many in which the procedure was completed within 40 min, and effective sedation could be achieved by intravenous sedation using a single benzodiazepine.
