The reaction of [W(CN)(6)(bpy)](-) with the corresponding Mn Schiff bases led to the formation of two antiferromagnetic (1) and ferromagnetic (2) chains. The formation of the conglomerate (2) is associated with chiral induction by the enantiomeric chelate-ring conformation of the Mn Schiff base. Modulation of the linking groups in the Mn Schiff bases affects the interchain contacts, causing alteration of the magnetic behaviors from metamagnetism (1) to slow magnetic relaxation (2).

Pump-probe response of the spin-orbit coupled Mott insulator Sr_{2}IrO_{4} reveals a rapid creation of low-energy optical weight and suppression of three-dimensional magnetic order on laser pumping. Postpump there is a quick reduction of the optical weight but a very slow recovery of the magnetic order-the difference is attributed to weak interlayer exchange in Sr_{2}IrO_{4} delaying the recovery of three-dimensional magnetic order. We suggest that the effect has a very different and more fundamental origin.

Background: Clearance of brain toxins occurs during sleep, although the mechanism remains unknown. Previous studies implied that the intracranial aqueductal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) oscillations are involved, but no mechanism was suggested. The rationale for focusing on the aqueductal CSF oscillations is unclear.

Background: Alzheimer's disease exhibits heterogeneity through varied phenotypic and pathological manifestations. Here, we aimed to investigate the potential of semi-supervised pattern classification applied to volumetric MRI data in identifying relatively homogeneous subgroups of individuals exhibiting cognitive decline (CD) throughout the study period.
Method: We used data from the placebo arm of trial of Solanezumab for mild dementia due to AD (EXPEDITION-3 trial).

The magnetic and magneto-optical properties of a tetrazinyl radical-bridged Er metallocene, [(Cp*Er)(bpytz)][BPh] (; Cp* = pentamethylcyclopentadienyl, bpytz = 3,6-bis(3,5-dimethyl-pyrazolyl)-1,2,4,5-tetrazine), are reported. As confirmed by these studies strong Ln-rad coupling is achieved, with exhibiting slow magnetic relaxation under a 1000 Oe dc field. The optical and magneto-optical profile of is completed by both near-infrared (NIR) luminescence and magnetic circularly polarized luminescence (MCPL), representing the first example of NIR MCPL with Er.

Passive error correction protects logical information forever (in the thermodynamic limit) by updating the system based only on local information and few-body interactions. A paradigmatic example is the classical two-dimensional Ising model: a Metropolis-style Gibbs sampler retains the sign of the initial magnetization (a logical bit) for thermodynamically long times in the low-temperature phase. Known models of passive quantum error correction similarly exhibit thermodynamic phase transitions to a low-temperature phase wherein logical qubits are protected by thermally stable topological order.
