Bovine tuberculosis still represents a universal threat that creates a wider range of public and animal health impacts. One of the most important steps in the pathogenesis of this disease and granuloma formation is the phagocytosis of tuberculous bacilli by macrophages. Mycobacteria replicate in macrophages, which are crucial to the pathophysiology of mycobacterial infections; however, scarce information is available about the dynamics of the granuloma-stage immunological response.

Tuberculosis still remains a serious public health problem in developing countries. Rapid isolation of mycobacteria is critical for accurate diagnosis and management of tuberculosis. In the present study BACTEC MGIT 960 system was evaluated against Lowenstein Jensen (LJ) medium for isolation of mycobacteria from different extra-pulmonary specimens (N = 371).

Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, still one of the most common life-threatening infectious diseases worldwide. Extra-pulmonary tuberculosis still remains an important differential diagnosis for chronic musculoskeletal ailments in developing countries like India and may involve any part of the body without characteristic systemic features. We are presenting a rare case of a four-year-old female child, who came to our tertiary-care hospital with chief complaints of pain in the left foot along with a gradually increasing swelling over the dorsum of the foot for the past five months. There was no history of trauma or constitutional symptoms.
