This review delves into the potential of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) as promising candidates for combating arboviruses, focusing on their mechanisms of antiviral activity, challenges, and future directions. AMPs have shown promise in preventing arbovirus attachment to host cells, inducing interferon production, and targeting multiple viral stages, illustrating their multifaceted impact on arbovirus infections. Structural elucidation of AMP-viral complexes is explored to deepen the understanding of molecular determinants governing viral neutralization, paving the way for structure-guided design.

The construction of structure-guided aptamers and the ultra-sensitive aptamer-based lateral flow assays (Apt-LFA) integrated detection method hold significant potential for food analysis. Using an engineered modified sequence strategy, we successfully developed the aptamer Cap-1-2M4, significantly enhancing its affinity for capsaicin (CAP) to 0.6197 ± 0.

The industrial use of enzymes often requires their immobilization to facilitate downstream processing and enable reuse. However, controlling enzyme orientation during immobilization is challenging and typically restricted to the N- and C-terminal regions. In this work, we propose a strategy to immobilize more active and stable amine transaminases (ATAs) by combining protein engineering with immobilization techniques.

Contactin-2 (CNTN2), an immunoglobulin cell adhesion molecule (IgCAM) expressed on the neural cell surface, regulates the formation of myelin sheaths, facilitates communication between neurons and axoglial cells, and coordinates the migration of neural cells. However, the assembly of full-length CNTN2 is still not fully elucidated. Here, we found that the full-length human CNTN2 forms a concentration-dependent homodimer.

(R)-selective amine transaminases (R-ATAs) show considerable potential for the asymmetric synthesis of chiral drug intermediates. However, the low catalytic efficiency of natural R-ATAs toward bulky ketone substrates, such as N-heterocyclic compounds, severely limits its industrial application. In this study, five putative (R)-ATAs were mined from NCBI database, among which MnTA showed the highest activity for N-Boc-3-pyrrolidinone (1a) and N-Boc-3-piperidone (2a), and its crystal structure was performed.
