Effects of direct pulp capping with recombinant human erythropoietin and/or mineral trioxide aggregate on inflamed rat dental pulp.

Department of Dentistry, Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of Kragujevac, Svetozara Markovica Str. 69, Kragujevac, Republic of Serbia.

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the dental pulp responses to recombinant human erythropoietin (rhEPO) and/or mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) in pulp capping of inflamed dental pulp in vivo.

Materials And Methods: In accordance with ARRIVE guidelines, pulp inflammation was induced by exposing the maxillary first molars (n = 64) of Wistar rats (n = 32) to the oral environment for two days. The exposed pulps were randomly assigned four groups based on the pulp capping material: rhEPO, MTA, MTA + rhEPO, or an inert membrane.

Background: Aluminum accumulation is a well-described complication in dialysis patients. Improvements in hemodialysis technology have possibly eliminated the occurrence of aluminum overload. Limited evidence suggests that aluminum overload may decline in the era of aluminum removal from dialysis fluids, even with the use of aluminum binders.

This study aimed to evaluate the effect of direct pulp capping on the expression of erythropoietin (Epo) and Epo-receptor (Epor) genes in relation to the expression of inflammatory and osteogenic genes in rat pulp. Dental pulps of the first maxillary molars of Wistar Albino rats were exposed and capped with either calcium hydroxide or mineral trioxide aggregate, or were left untreated. After 4 wk, animals were euthanized, and maxillae were prepared for histological and real-time polymerase chain reaction analysis.

Aluminum (Al) is an environmental neurotoxicant with a wide exposure, but the molecular mechanism underlying its toxicity remains unclear. We used RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) in the hippocampus of Al-treated rats to identify 96 upregulated and 652 downregulated mRNAs, and 37 dysregulated long non-coding (lnc)RNAs. Gene ontology analysis showed that dysregulated genes were involved in glial cell differentiation, neural transmission, and vesicle trafficking.

Introduction: While studies demonstrated favorable outcomes of nocturnal home hemodialysis (NHHD), direct comparison on employment rate, clinical and laboratory outcomes between the NHHD and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) had not been previously performed.

Methods: A 1-year retrospective observation study was performed in 20 incidents alternate night NHHD and 81 incident CAPD patients of Chinese ethnicity, who were sex, diabetic status, and Charlson comorbidity index matched, but not age due to our center's age limit for NHHD enrollment. The primary outcome was the difference in employment rate at 1 year.
