Objectives: This study examined the retention of solvents within experimental HEMA/solvent primers after two conditions for solvent evaporation: from a free surface or from dentine surface.

Methods: Experimental primers were prepared by mixing 35% HEMA with 65% water, methanol, ethanol or acetone (v/v). Aliquots of each primer (50 microl) were placed on glass wells or they were applied to the surface of acid-etched dentine cubes (2mm x 2mm x 2mm) (n=5). For both conditions (i.e. from free surface or dentine cubes), change in primers mass due to solvent evaporation was gravimetrically measured for 10min at 51% RH and 21 degrees C. The rate of solvent evaporation was calculated as a function of loss of primers mass (%) over time. Data were analysed by two-way ANOVA and Student-Newman-Keuls (p<0.05).

Results: There were significant differences between solvent retention (%) and evaporation rate (%/min) depending on the solvent present in the primer and the condition for evaporation (from free surface or dentine cubes) (p<0.05). For both conditions, the greatest amount of retained solvent was observed for HEMA/water primer. The rate of solvent evaporation for HEMA/acetone primer was almost 2- to 10-times higher than for HEMA/water primer depending whether evaporation occurred, respectively, from a free surface or dentine cubes. The rate of solvent evaporation varied with time, being in general highest at the earliest periods.

Conclusions: The rate of solvent evaporation and its retention into HEMA/solvent primers was influenced by the type of the solvent and condition allowed for their evaporation.

CsCuI is considered a promising material for lead-free resistive switching (RS) memory devices due to its low operating voltage, high on/off ratio, and excellent thermal and environmental stability. However, conventional lead-free halide-based RS memory devices typically require solvent-based thin-film formation processes that involve toxic organic and acidic solvents, and the effects of process conditions on device performance are often not fully understood. This study investigates the effect of crystallinity on CsCuI-based RS memory devices fabricated thermal evaporation.

Ordered Photoexfoliation for Polypseudorotaxane Nanosheets.

Two-dimensional layered structural materials exhibit a wide range of properties due to their ultrahigh specific surface area. However, achieving ordered exfoliation to obtain uniform two-dimensional structures remains challenging. In this study, we developed a supramolecular system by covalently bonding hexathiobenzene (HB) into β-cyclodextrin to create a light-responsive moiety, followed by coassembly with bipyridine and nickel ions to form a polypseudorotaxane (PR) system, which enables an light-induced exfoliation strategy for two-dimensional materials.

Puerarin (PU), a bioactive constituent reported to possess therapeutic effectiveness, but it suffers a drawback of poor bioavailability. In the present study, the PU nanoparticles (PU-NPs) were prepared using solvent-diffusion-evaporation method and optimized using Box-Behnken design (BBD), a response surface methodology for obtaining the optimal material ratio of PU-NPs. Further, PU and PU-NPs were evaluated to assess their cytotoxic effect and in vitro efficiency of inflammatory responses using lipopolysaccharide-sensitive macrophage cell line (RAW264.

Thermal Annealing-Induced Phase Conversion in N-type Triple-Cation Lead-Based Perovskite Field Effect Transistors.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Research Institute of Advanced Materials, Seoul National University, Seoul 08826, Korea.

The field of perovskite optoelectronics and electronics has rapidly advanced, driven by excellent material properties and a diverse range of fabrication methods available. Among them, triple-cation perovskites such as CsFAMAPbI offer enhanced stability and superior performance, making them ideal candidates for advanced applications. However, the multicomponent nature of these perovskites introduces complexity, particularly in how their structural, optical, and electrical properties are influenced by thermal annealing─a critical step for achieving high-quality thin films.
