Exploring daidzein dimethyl ether from Albizzia lebbeck as a novel quorum sensing inhibitor against Pseudomonas aeruginosa: Insights from in vitro and in vivo studies.

Bioorg Chem

January 2025

Helmholtz International Lab for Anti-Infectives, State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology, Shandong University, Qingdao, Shandong 266237, China. Electronic address:

Infections of multidrug-resistant pathogens including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, cause a high risk of mortality in immunocompromised patients and underscore the need for novel natural antibacterial drugs. In this study, common phytochemicals prevalent in fruits and vegetables have been demonstrated for their ability to inhibit quorum sensing (QS) in Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 (PA). Ten compounds were screened virtually by molecular docking, among which, daidzein dimethyl ether originally from Albizzia lebbeck showed the most significant inhibitory effect on the formation of biofilm and the accumulation of virulence factors, including elastase, pyocyanin and rhamnolipid in PA.

This randomized controlled trial aims to investigate the effects of educational and psychological interventions on the health outcomes of patients suffering from chronic diseases. We recruited 372 patients and randomly assigned them to one of two intervention arms during the trial, which lasted for a year. Both groups participated in a 12-month intervention program, where the intervention group received health education and supportive psychological therapy utilizing virtual reality (VR) technology, while the control group received conventional health education guidance.

Background: Precise and accurate glenoid preparation is important for the success of shoulder arthroplasty. Despite advancements in preoperative planning software and enabling technologies, most surgeons execute the procedure manually. Patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) facilitates accurate glenoid guide pin placement for cannulated reaming; however, few commercially available systems offer depth of reaming control.

Digital Profiling of Immune Biomarkers in Breast Cancer: Relation to Anthracycline Benefit.

Mod Pathol

January 2025

Interdisciplinary Oncology, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada; MAPcore, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, BC, Canada. Electronic address:

Assessment of the tumor immune microenvironment can be used as a prognostic tool for improved survival and as a predictive biomarker for treatment benefit, particularly from immune modulating treatments including cytotoxic chemotherapy. Using Digital Spatial Profiling (DSP), we studied the tumor immune microenvironment of 522 breast cancer cases by quantifying 35 immune biomarkers on tissue microarrays from the MA.5 phase III clinical trial.
