Sixty-two new emission lines in the far infrared have been observed in vinyl fluoride optically pumped in a metallicwaveguide resonator by a CO(2) laser. The emission spectrum for this molecule now covers the 2.52-mm-142-microm wavelength range.

A significant issue in developing metal-catalyzed plastic polymer materials is obtaining distinctive catalytic characteristics to compete with current plastics in industrial commodities. We performed first-principle DFT calculations on the key insertion steps for industrially important monomers, vinyl fluoride (VF) and 3,3,3-trifluoropropene (TFP), to explain how the ligand substitution patterns affect the complex's polymerization behaviors. Our results indicate that the favorable 2,1-insertion of TFP is caused by less deformation in the catalyst moiety of the complexes in contrast to the 1,2-insertion mode.

Although gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs) represent a promising candidate to address the individual limitations of liquid and solid electrolytes, their extensive development is still hindered due to the veiled Li-ion conduction mechanism. Herein, the related mechanism in GPEs is extensively studied by developing an in situ polymerized GPE comprising fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC) solvent and carbonate ester segments (F-GPE). Practically, although with high dielectric constant, FEC fails to effectively transport Li ions when acting as the sole solvent.

Cross-electrophile coupling reactions involving direct C-O bond activation of unactivated alkyl sulfonates or C-F bond activation of allylic -difluorides remain challenging. Herein, we report a nickel-catalyzed cross-electrophile coupling reaction between alkyl mesylates and allylic -difluorides to synthesize enantioenriched vinyl fluoride-substituted cyclopropane products. These complex products are interesting building blocks with applications in medicinal chemistry.

Growing environmental concerns are stimulating researchers to develop more and more efficient materials for environmental remediation. Among them, polymer-based hierarchical structures, attained by properly combining certain starting components and processing techniques, represent an emerging trend in materials science and technology. In this work, graphene oxide (GO) and/or carbon nanotubes (CNTs) were integrated at different loading levels into poly (vinyl fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-co-HFP) and then electrospun to construct mats capable of treating water that is contaminated by methylene blue (MB).

The ability to monitor lithium deposition on the anodes in real time is becoming progressively more important due to the development of advanced anode technology. Given the fact that the detrimental Li deposits are always on the micron scale, electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) happens to be a very effective and selective detection technology due to the skin effect. Here, quantitative in situ 1D EPR imaging is carried out with a magnetic field gradient to achieve a one-dimensional spatial resolution along the Li growth direction in a capillary cell.
