Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant global health challenge, especially for children. The aim of this scoping review was to investigate the role of mothers in preventing childhood TB transmission and highlight effective strategies and associated barriers. A systematic literature search was conducted using PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus, covering articles up to January 17, 2024.

Infections caused by persistent, drug-resistant bacteria pose significant challenges in inflammation treatment, often leading to severe morbidity and mortality. Herein, the photosensitizer rhodamine derivatives are selected as the light-trapping dye and the electron-rich substituent N-nitrosoaminophen as the nitric oxide (NO)-releasing component to develop a multifunctional (deep) red-light activatable NO photocage/photodynamic prodrug for efficient treatment of wounds and diabetic foot infections. The prodrug, RhB-NO-2 integrates antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT), NO sterilization, and NO-mediated anti-inflammatory properties within a small organic molecule and is capable of releasing NO and generating Reactive oxygen species (ROS) when exposed to (deep) red laser (660 nm).

Powder-based hemostatic materials have offered unprecedented opportunities for the effective sealing and repair of irregularly shaped wounds and high-pressure, noncompressible arterial bleeding wounds caused by surgeries, traffic accidents, and wartime injuries. However, inadequate adhesion to bleeding wounds and poor hemostasis in biological tissues remains challenging. Herein, we report a self-gelling hemostatic powder based on polyacrylic acid/polyethyleneimine/polyethylene glycol (named PPG) for rapid hemostasis and effective antibacterial ability.

: The increased prevalence of antibiotic resistance among Gram-negative bacteria presents a severe public health challenge, leading to increased mortality rates, prolonged hospital stays, and higher medical costs. In Greece, the issue of multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria is particularly alarming, exacerbated by overuse of antibiotics and inadequate infection control measures. This study aimed to detect the prevalence of extensively drug-resistant (XDR) Gram-negative bacteria in a tertiary hospital in Western Greece over the last eight years from 2016 to 2023.
