The control of insect pests and invasive weeds has become more species-selective because of activity-guided isolation, structure elucidation, and total synthesis of naturally produced substances with important biological activities. Examples of isolated compounds include insect pheromones, antifeedants, and prostaglandins, as well as growth regulators for plants and insects. Synthetic analogues of natural substances have been prepared to explore the relationships between chemical structure and observed biological activity. Recent scientific advances have resulted from better methods for the chemical synthesis of target compounds and better analytical methods. The capability of analytical instrumentation continues to advance rapidly, enabling new insights.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of a tannin-rich extract from commercial (MTE_0), and gallocatechin, a flavonoid compound derived from , on the long-term viability and motility of cryopreserved ovine semen. Six fresh ejaculates obtained from six adult merino rams twice per week for three weeks were allocated to five aliquots (0, 12.5, 25, 50, and 100 µM gallocatechin added into the Optidyl™ extender) before cooling and cryopreservation.

In this study, dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) simulations were employed to determine the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in ionic aqueous solutions. This approach provides precise CMC data for PFAS surfactants in the presence of various ionic species, thereby addressing a gap in the current literature. Additionally, this study contributes to the development of open-source molecular force fields for charged perfluorinated compounds, which are currently limited.

Organophosphate (OP) compounds have been extensively employed as pesticides, insecticides and nerve agents. Stockpiles of chemical warfare agents must be destroyed as recommended by Chemical Weapon Convention (CWC). Toxicity of OP compounds to insects and mammals is due to their ability to inhibit the activity of acetylcholinesterase.

Ischemic stroke's complex pathophysiology demands therapeutic approaches targeting multiple pathways simultaneously, yet current treatments remain limited. We developed an innovative drug discovery pipeline combining a deep learning approach with experimental validation to identify natural compounds with comprehensive neuroprotective properties. Our computational framework integrated SELFormer, a transformer-based deep learning model, and multiple deep learning algorithms to predict NC bioactivity against seven crucial stroke-related targets (, and ).

1,1,1-Trichloroethane (1,1,1-TCA) and chloroform (CF) are persistent groundwater contaminants because of their widespread industrial use as organic solvents and improper disposal in the past. Obligate organohalide-respiring bacteria (OHRB), such as (), play crucial roles in biotransforming and detoxifying natural or anthropogenic halogenated organics including 1,1,1-TCA and CF through reductive dechlorination. Despite their significance, only five strains have been associated with the reductive dechlorination of 1,1,1-TCA or CF.
