A normal-incidence technique is described for obtaining IR absorption spectra of molecular layers adsorbed on a dielectric thin-film surface. In the experiment described, a low-power CO(2) laser beam is scanned across a molecular layer of 2-propanol adsorbed on a ZnSe film. Spectra for 1-5 monolayer coverages are compared with the liquid spectrum of the adsorbate.

Background: Hormonal imbalances related to women's health, physical activity, and fluctuations are prevalent metabolic disorders in several nations and have significantly impacted women's health for an extended period. The application of individual or combined botanical extracts in traditional, alternative, and complementary medicine is employed to manage and alleviate these issues.
Objectives: The objective of this study is to examine the suppressive properties of horehound ( L.

Background: Synthesis of the original Schiff base CdCl (CHNO) compound (Schiff base complex) displays an extensive range of bioactivities and was predictably utilized to treat several syndromes.
Purpose: The goal of the existing experiment is to evaluate the gastroprotective effects of a novel Schiff base CdCl₂ (C14H21N3O2) compound in alcohol-induced gastric ulcers in rats by examining its antioxidant activity, anti-inflammatory effects, and modulation of key molecular markers, including heat shock protein-70 (HSP-70) and Bcl-2-associated X protein (Bax) proteins.
Methods: Five groups of rats were utilized in the current study.

Background: Xanthones are dubbed as putative lead-like molecules for cancer drug design and discovery. This study was aimed at the synthesis, characterization, and target fishing of novel xanthone derivatives.
Methods: The products of reactions of xanthydrol with urea, thiourea, and thiosemicarbazide reacted with α-haloketones to prepare the thiazolone compounds.

Rust fungi are important pathogens of trees, ornamental plants, and food crops. Field research targeting rust diseases across Korea uncovered three distinct species of , affecting different members of the family . In our examination of both wild and cultivated grapevine () species, including , , and , we found as well as a previously undescribed rust species, which we describe here as , which was previously identified as a rust pathogen of spp.

We report enhanced proton conductivity promoted by a structural phase transition of MFM-504(Cu)-DMF to MFM-504(Cu)-MeOH and to MFM-504(Cu)-OH via ligand substitution upon exposure to MeOH and HO vapors, respectively. MFM-504(Cu)-DMF can be synthesized by the solvothermal reaction of Cu(NO)·3HO and the flexible zwitterionic ligand, imidazolium-1,3-bis(methylenedicarboxylate) (imidc), to afford a unique layered interwoven network structure. MFM-504(Cu)-OH shows a proton conductivity of 5.
