Objectives: Hydrofluoric (HF) acid etching increases the bond strength between composite resin and porcelain surfaces and has been advocated as a pre-cementation technique for ceramic restorations. The internal surface flaw distribution which is implicated in the premature failure of ceramic restorations is modified by the etching process and little agreement exists amongst researchers as to the appropriate etching regime. The purpose of the current study was to examine the impact of HF acid concentration and etching time on the performance of a low fusing feldspathic porcelain.

Striking at the nation's highly populated industrial heartlands, two massive earthquakes in 1999 killed over 25,000 people in Turkey. The economic cost and the humanitarian magnitude of the disaster were unprecedented in the country's history. The crisis also underscored a major flaw in the organization of mental health services in the provinces that were left out of the 1961 reforms that aimed to make basic health services available nationwide.

This article argues that the current structure of the hospital governing board and medical staff relationship does not support and promote quality and patient-centered care. The fundamental flaw in the current structure is the interdependent, yet independent and discordant relationships between hospital governing boards and medical staffs. These relationships are described as cultures and fit into three types of "silos": organizational (the "structural silo"); professional (the "professional silo", including the "culture of blame"); and the fragmented quality information silo (the "informational silo").
