Halide-perovskite semiconductors have a high potential for use in single-junction and tandem solar cells. Despite their unprecedented rise in power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) for photovoltaic (PV) applications, it remains unclear whether perovskite solar modules can reach a sufficient operational lifetime. In order to make perovskite solar cells (PSCs) commercially viable, a fundamental understanding of the relationship between their nanostructure, optoelectronic properties, device efficiency, and long-term operational stability/reliability needs to be established.

Temperature-Controlled Chemoselective Couplings of Alkyl Halides with Disulfides.

J Org Chem

December 2024

College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Green Catalysis & Synthesis Key Laboratory of Xinyang City, Xinyang Normal University, Xinyang, Henan 464000, China.

An unprecedented, transition metal-free -alkylation of disulfides with alkyl halides is developed for the first time, providing an efficient and green synthesis of thioethers and even thioesters. Notably, this new method allows the full utilization of both sulfur atoms of disulfides under chemical reductant-free conditions and can be easily scaled up in gram scale, showing good practical value. Control experiments suggested that water, unprecedentedly, serves as the terminal reductant of the whole reaction.

Strong Magneto-Chiroptical Effects through Introducing Chiral Transition-Metal Complex Cations to Lead Halide.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

December 2024

Tianjin Key Lab for Rare Earth Materials and Applications, Renewable Energy Conversion and Storage Center (RECAST), Smart Sensing Interdisciplinary Science Center, School of Materials Science and Engineering, National Institute for Advanced Materials, Nankai University, Tianjin, 300350, China.

The interplay between chirality with magnetism can break both the space and time inversion symmetry and have wide applications in information storage, photodetectors, multiferroics and spintronics. Herein, we report the chiral transition-metal complex cation-based lead halide, R-CDPB and S-CDPB. In contrast with the traditional chiral metal halides with organic cations, a novel strategy for chirality transfer from the transition-metal complex cation to the lead halide framework is developed.

The activation of various homopropargylic pyridines by cis-[Ru/Os(dppm)Cl] (dppm=1,1-bis(diphenylphosphino)methane) has previously been shown to generate a diverse array of metallacycles and metalated heterocyclic complexes. However, a minor structural modification of introducing a halide onto the pyridyl group of the alkyne substrate resulted in the formation of unprecedented Ru(II)/Os(II)-haloquinolizine complexes. These complexes display (1) κ(X,C)-haloquinolizine chelates arising from the cycloisomerization of HC≡CC(OH)(CH(6-X-2-py))(Ph) on [Ru/Os(dppm)] moieties via a vinylidene pathway, (2) five-membered Ru/Os-X-C-N-C rings (X=F, Cl, Br) ortho- and peri-fused to quinolizinium skeletons, and (3) uncommon M-X-R bonding interactions that are atypical in coordination complexes.

Luminescence Thermochromism of a Noncluster Copper Iodide Complex.

Inorg Chem

November 2024

CNRS, Institut des Matériaux de Nantes Jean Rouxel, IMN, Nantes Université, Nantes F-44000, France.

Hybrid copper(I) halide materials are currently attracting significant attention due to their exceptional luminescence properties, offering great potential for the development of multifunctional emissive materials with, in addition, eco-friendly features. A binuclear copper iodide complex, based on the [CuIL] motif with phosphite derivatives as ligands, has been synthesized and structurally characterized. Photophysical investigations indicate that this complex displays luminescence thermochromic properties, which are characterized by a temperature-dependent change in the relative intensity of two emission bands.
