New techniques grouped together under the general term of "omic" techniques are bringing about a revolution in biological research, as can be clearly seen in the case of genomics. However, environmental factors (such as lifestyle, socioeconomic context and diet) have not been incorporated to their full extent into these "omic" techniques despite evidence that many common diseases largely result from interactions between genetic and environmental factors. However, if the integration of environmental variables into "omic" analysis is to provide valuable information, it is essential that they are quantified in a highly precise and repeatable manner and that they are adequately validated. In addition, because of the enormous volume of information that will be generated by "omic" techniques and by taking environmental variables into account, it is also essential that bioinformatics and biostatistical methods are further developed.

The advancement of epigenetics has highlighted DNA methylation as an intermediate-omic influencing gene regulation and phenotypic expression. With emerging technologies enabling the large-scale and affordable capture of methylation data, there is growing interest in integrating this information into genetic evaluation models for animal breeding. This study used methylome information from six dairy cows to simulate the methylation profile of 13,183 genotyped animals.

This review provides a comprehensive overview of the evolving role of minimal residual disease (MRD) for patients with Colon Cancer (CC). Currently, the standard of care for patients with non-metastatic CC is adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT) for all patients with stage III and high-risk stage II CC following surgical intervention. Despite a 5-20% improvement in long-term survival outcomes, this approach also results in a significant proportion of patients receiving ACT without any therapeutic benefit and being unnecessarily exposed to the risks of secondary side effects.

: The integration of microbiome and metabolome data could unveil profound insights into biological processes. However, widely used multi-omic data analyses often employ a stepwise mining approach, failing to harness the full potential of multi-omic datasets and leading to reduced detection accuracy. Synergistic analysis incorporating microbiome/metabolome data are essential for deeper understanding.
