Objective: Soft-tissue injuries from animal bites and insect stings are frequent causes of emergency department visits. Although many cases follow a short and benign clinical course, life-threatening complications can occur. Imaging can play an important role in guiding clinical care by revealing the scope of the injury and associated complications. The purpose of this article is to provide a brief overview of the epidemiology of animal-related injuries, with a focus on imaging manifestations of soft-tissue injury using multiple techniques in a pictorial review format.
Conclusion: This article reviews the imaging manifestations of soft-tissue injuries caused by animal bites and insect stings. After completing this article, the reader should have an improved ability to recognize complications of soft-tissue injuries and the role of advanced imaging in select cases.

Background: Management of the extensive soft tissue injuries remains a significant challenge in orthopedic and plastic reconstructive surgery. Since the thumb is responsible for 40% of the functions of the hand, saving and reconstructing a mangled thumb is essential for the patient's future.
Case Presentation: This case report describes the management of a severe occupational thumb injury in a 25-year-old white Persian male who sustained an occupational injury to his left thumb, resulting in extensive burn, crush injury to the distal and proximal phalanx, and severe soft tissue damage to the first metacarpal, thenar, and palmar areas.

Purpose: The fixation method commonly employed worldwide for treating unstable fractures of the posterior pelvic ring is the percutaneous iliosacral screw technique. However, prolonged operation time and frequent fluoroscopies result in surgical risks. This study aimed to investigate whether a new triangulation method could reduce operative and fluoroscopy times and increase the accuracy of screw placement.

Distal tibia fractures are high-energy injuries characterized by a mismatch between standard plate designs and the patient's specific anatomical bone structure, which can lead to severe soft tissue damage. Recent advancements have focused on the development of customized metal plates using three-dimensional (3D) printing technology. However, 3D-printed metal plates using titanium alloys have not incorporated a locking system due to the brittleness of these alloys.

Case: A 51-year-old male polytrauma patient presented with bilateral calcaneus fractures after a fall. This report describes treatment of his right comminuted Sanders IV calcaneus fracture with percutaneous open reduction internal fixation (ORIF) and minimally invasive surgery (MIS) primary subtalar fusion to restore alignment and preserve soft tissue.
Conclusion: Unlike traditional open approaches, which are prone to wound complications due to larger incisions, our approach of maintaining fracture alignment during joint preparation using an MIS burr for acute posttrauma subtalar arthrodesis and percutaneous ORIF appears to have reduced these risks, resulting in successful radiological healing and functional recovery at 1-year follow-up.

Purpose: To report the radiological outcomes and complications of the Masquelet induced membrane technique (IMT) for acute bone reconstruction in complex hand injuries.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 22 patients treated primarily by the IMT for bone defect of the phalanx and/or metacarpals bones in 26 injured digits. The median bone defect length was 17 mm (IQR 13-25).
