The degree to which tunneling through a barrier in the N-H and N-D photodissociation channels of methylamine (CH3NH2) and its deuterated variant (CH3ND2), respectively, plays a role was investigated by time-dependent quantum wave-packet dynamics calculations. Two dimensional potential energy surfaces (PESs) of methylamine, presenting the N-H stretch and the HNC bend, were constructed employing multireference ab initio electronic-structure methods, allowing full description of the H motion on the HC-NH2 plane. The time-dependent Schrödinger equation was solved employing the Fourier method for calculating the Hamiltonian operation together with the Chebychev polynomial expansion of the evolution operator. The results show that tunneling and decay to vibrational resonant states on the first excited electronic PES are faster for the H atom than for the D. The decay into two of the resonant states found on the first PES strongly depends on the initially excited vibrational state on the ground electronic PES.

Naphthalenediimide (NDI)-based donor-acceptor co-polymers with tunable electronic, optical, mechanical, and transport properties have shown immense potential as n-type conducting polymers in organic (opto)electronics. During the operation, the polymers undergo reduction at different charged states, which alters their (opto)electronic properties mainly due to the formation of the quasiparticles, polaron/bipolaron. The theoretical study based on quantum mechanical calculations can provide us with a detailed understanding of their (opto)electronic properties, which is missing to a great extent.

Machine learning accelerated nonadiabatic dynamics simulations of materials with excitonic effects.

Key Laboratory of Theoretical and Computational Photochemistry, Ministry of Education, College of Chemistry, Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100875, China.

This study presents an efficient methodology for simulating nonadiabatic dynamics of complex materials with excitonic effects by integrating machine learning (ML) models with simplified Tamm-Dancoff approximation (sTDA) calculations. By leveraging ML models, we accurately predict ground-state wavefunctions using unconverged Kohn-Sham (KS) Hamiltonians. These ML-predicted KS Hamiltonians are then employed for sTDA-based excited-state calculations (sTDA/ML).

A series of colorful binuclear Schiff bases derived from the different diamine bridges including 1,2- ethylenediamine (bis-Et-SA, bis-Et-4-NEt, bis-Et-5-NO, bis-Et-Naph), 1,2-phenylenediamine (bis-Ph-SA, bis-Ph-4-NEt, bis-Ph-5-NO, bis-Ph-Naph), dicyano-1,2-ethenediamine (bis-CN-SA, bis-CN-4-NEt, bis-CN-5-NO, bis-CN-Naph) have been designed and prepared. The optical properties of these binuclear Schiff base ligands were fully determined by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence emission spectroscopy, and time-dependent-density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations. The inclusion of D-A systems and/or π-extended systems in these binuclear Schiff base ligands not only enables adjustable RGB light absorption and emission spectra (300~700 nm) but also yields high fluorescence quantum efficiencies of up to 0.

Energetic Materials Photolysis Footprint in High-Order Harmonic Generation.

Photolysis of energetic materials offers safer and more controllable advantages compared to traditional ignition methods. Tracking the group and electron dynamics during the photolysis of energetic materials is currently a hot and challenging topic. In this work, we used a time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) to study the high-order Harmonic generation (HHG) dynamics induced by strong laser interaction with an isolated CHNO molecule with varying C-N bond lengths.
