Objective: To explore the effects of Zuojin Pills and its similar formulas on the stomach cold syndrome in a Wei cold model in rats.

Methods: The rat Wei cold model was established by intragastric administration of glacial NaOH, and the gastric mucosa injury indices, together with the levels of motilin and gastrin in the stomach, were determined. The preventive and curative effects of Zuojin Pills and its similar formulas on gastric mucosa injury were investigated.

Results: Zuojin Pills and its similar formulas could protect the gastric mucosa in the gastric cold model in rats at different levels. Fanzuojin Pills had the best effect in inhibiting gastric mucosa injury.

Conclusion: The different pharmacological effects of Zuojin Pills and its similar formulas in the rat gastric cold model were partially correlated with the degrees in cold and heat properties of the formulas.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a common clinical inflammatory bowel disease characterized by repeated attacks, difficult treatment, and great harm to the physical and mental health of the patients. The occurrence and development of UC were closely related to the physiological and pathological processes, such as intestinal inflammatory reaction, oxidizing reaction, and immune response. Treatment of ulcerative colitis using Western medicine is often associated with a number of limitations and adverse events.

Department of General Surgery, The Second Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, Changsha, 410011, Hunan, People's Republic of China.

Article Synopsis
  • Pancreatic cancer is a highly aggressive cancer, and Zuojin pills (ZJP), a traditional Chinese medicine, show potential promise in treating it, although its active compounds and mechanisms need more research.
  • Data regarding pancreatic cancer genes and ZJP's bioactive compounds were analyzed using bioinformatics approaches, revealing 41 compounds and 130 target genes linked to anti-cancer effects, with the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway being particularly significant.
  • Experimental results confirmed that ZJP inhibits pancreatic cancer cell proliferation and induces apoptosis via the PI3K/AKT/caspase pathway, aligning with predictions from the bioinformatics analysis.

To explore the etiology, pathogenesis, distribution of syndromes and the rule of medication of chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG) in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region based on the latent structure model. Chronic atrophic gastritis of 279 cases in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region were extracted from the established database of spleen and stomach diseases of famous veteran Chinese medicine experts. The latent structure models of symptoms and drugs of chronic atrophic gastritis were constructed by using Lantern 3.

Objective: To optimize the formulation of Zuojin floating-bioadhesive pellets by the central composite design-response surface methodology (CCD-RSM).

Methods: In the formulation design using CCD-RSM, independent variables were the amounts of sodium bicarbonate (X1), HPMC (X2) and MCC (X3) as factors. Small pills roundness, 12 h floating rate and the percentages of in vitro cumulative releases at 2,6 and 12 h were dependent variables.
