AI Article Synopsis

  • The study aimed to investigate the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of esthesioneuroblastoma through the analysis of 6 clinical cases.
  • Four cases underwent surgery with radiotherapy, one received only radiotherapy, and one was treated with both surgery and chemotherapy.
  • The results showed high survival rates, with 100% at 1 year, 83.3% at 3 years, and 66.7% at 5 years, demonstrating that early diagnosis and combined treatment strategies are crucial for improving patient outcomes.

Article Abstract

Objective: To explore the diagnosis and treatment and prognosis of esthesioneuroblastoma.

Method: The clinical data of 6 cases with esthesioneuroblastoma were analyzed retrospectively. One case was treated with radiotherapy alone; Four cases were treated with surgery combined with radiotherapy; One case was treated with surgery combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Result: All cases have been followed up for one to ten years and the 1-year, 3-year and 5-year survival rate were 100.0% (6/6), 83.3% (5/6) and 66.7% (4/6) respectively. One case has survived without tumor for 8 years.

Conclusion: It was the best way to control local recurrence combined with radical surgery and postoperative radiotherapy, and chemotherapy contributed to the prevention of distance metastasis. The key to improving the survival rate of the disease is early accurate diagnosis and combined treatment.

Background: The common drugs used for the treatment of Newly Diagnosed Multiple Myeloma (NDMM) include bortezomib and lenalidomide, but the adverse effects of lenalidomide cannot be ignored, especially when it is used in the initial therapy.

Methods: This retrospective study evaluated the efficacy and safety of a modified DVD regimen (pegylated liposomal doxorubicin, bortezomib, and dexamethasone) followed by lenalidomide in the treatment of NDMM. A total of 40 NDMM patients were treated with a reduced dose of pegylated liposomal doxorubicin (20 mg/m) on day 1, subcutaneous bortezomib (1.

In the medical field, endoscopic video analysis is crucial for disease diagnosis and minimally invasive surgery. The Endoscopic Foundation Models (Endo- FM) utilize large-scale self-supervised pre-training on endoscopic video data and leverage video transformer models to capture long-range spatiotemporal dependencies. However, detecting complex lesions such as gastrointestinal metaplasia (GIM) in endoscopic videos remains challenging due to unclear boundaries and indistinct features, and Endo-FM has not demonstrated good performance.

Background: Congenital heart disease (CHD) is a birth defect of the heart that requires long-term care and often leads to additional health complications. Effective educational strategies are essential for improving health literacy and care outcomes. Despite affecting around 40,000 children annually in the United States, there is a gap in understanding children's health literacy, parental educational burdens, and the efficiency of health care providers in delivering education.

Background: Insomnia is a prevalent sleep disorder affecting millions worldwide, with significant impacts on daily functioning and quality of life. While traditionally assessed through subjective measures such as the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), the advent of wearable technology has enabled continuous, objective sleep monitoring in natural environments. However, the relationship between subjective insomnia severity and objective sleep parameters remains unclear.

Background: Radiation-induced sarcoma (RIS) is an exceptionally rare occurrence following radiation therapy, and manifestation usually occurs after a several-year latency period. Herein, the authors report the development of a radiation-induced osteosarcoma of the frontoparietal calvaria following treatment for an oligodendroglioma in an 84-year-old woman.

Observations: The patient had been diagnosed with a grade III anaplastic oligodendroglioma when she was 78 years old.
