In 2007 a study was undertaken of the restorative care index of the teeth of children under the age of 18. The aim of this study was to gain insight into the factors associated with the restorative care index in children. Factors investigated were (post-) brushing, inspection frequency, sweets-consumption frequency, socio-economic status and treatment or lack thereof by a general practitioner or dentist who works in a clinic for child health care. This study made use of statistics assembled for an earlier study of children formerly covered by public health insurance in the municipality of The Hague and research carried out at child dental clinics. Socio-economic status and the level of oral care were correlated with dental quality. No patient-bound factors were significantly correlated with the level of care. There was however a positive correlation between the'type' of dentist (family dentist or dentist associated with a clinic for child dental care) and the chance of curative treatment (in the case of developing caries).

Objective: To assess the impact of parathyroid gland autotransplantation on the restoration of parathyroid function in patients who are hypoparathyroid after thyroidectomy.
Background Data: Hypoparathyroidism post-thyroidectomy arises when all parathyroid glands are devascularized or injured. Autotransplantation of compromised parathyroids aims to preserve their function and prevent permanent hypoparathyroidism.

Pemphigus vulgaris (PV) is a subtype of pemphigus and life-altering disorder that results in the formation of intraepithelial blisters in mucosa and skin. Though the etiology is not well understood, it is an autoimmune disorder resulting in acantholytic blisters due to auto-antibodies targeting proteins of keratinocyte adhesion. Rapid diagnosis and restoration of the epidermal layer is imperative for patients with PV as widespread epidermal damage can lead to high morbidity and mortality rates.

Background: Alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT)-deficient individuals have a greater risk for developing COPD than individuals with normal AAT levels.
Methods: This was a double-blind, randomised, parallel group, placebo-controlled trial to examine the safety and tolerability of "Kamada-AAT for Inhalation" (inhaled AAT) in subjects with AAT deficiency, and to explore its effect on AAT and biomarkers in the lung epithelial lining fluid (ELF). 36 patients with severe AAT deficiency were randomised 2:1 to receive 80 mg or 160 mg inhaled AAT or placebo once daily for 12 weeks.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of home-use desensitizing agents over an 8-week period by comparing them using different measurement methods.
Methods: A randomized, controlled clinical trial was conducted with 180 individuals aged between 18 and 70 who clinically diagnosed dentin hypersensitivity (DH) in two or more non-adjacent teeth. Subjects who met the inclusion criteria (n = 164) were randomly allocated into five test groups-using Casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP), Arginine, Novamin, Propolis, and Potassium nitrate-and a control group using standard fluoride toothpaste.
Objective: The European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) has developed clinical practice guidelines for the care of patients with vascular trauma with the aim of assisting physicians in selecting the optimal management strategy.
Methods: The guidelines are based on scientific evidence completed with expert opinion. By summarising and evaluating the best available evidence, recommendations for the evaluation and treatment of patients have been formulated.
