Pure primary squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the breast is rare and difficult to treat. Published series suggest a poor response to conventional breast chemotherapy. A 66-year-old woman with locally advanced SCC of the breast received combined-modality treatment with high-dose radiation therapy (59 Gy in 22 fractions); mastectomy; and chemotherapy with cisplatin 50 mg/m(2), mitomycin-C 6 mg/m(2), and ifosfamide 3 g/m(2) given in 21-day cycles. She remained disease free for 10 years from presentation and died from an unrelated cause. We would suggest that this case lends support to the use of high-dose radiation therapy and platinum-based chemotherapy in the management of this difficult condition.

PrPc is expressed in various tumors and is associated with cancer progression, but previous studies have shown conflicting results regarding its relationship with patient prognosis-potentially due to differences in the antibodies used. This study aimed to clarify the relationship between PrPc expression and primary esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) and primary hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using a novel anti-PrPc antibody, 4AA-m, noted for its high specificity and sensitivity. We used flow cytometry to detect PrPc expression in ESCC and HCC cell lines.

Objectives: This study aimed to develop a prediction model for feeding tube dependence in a large homogenous cohort of HPV-associated oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (HPV + OPSCC) patients receiving chemoradiotherapy (CRT). We further aimed to externally validate three previously published feeding tube prediction models on this cohort.
Materials And Methods: p16-confirmed HPV + OPSCC patients treated with definitive CRT at a tertiary cancer centre between April 2017 and February 2022 were identified.
