Carbohydrates and glycoconjugates have attracted a great deal of attention in recent years because of the key roles they play in biological processes. The development of carbohydrate-based libraries is a crucial step towards investigating the details of carbohydrate-mediated interactions, exploring the molecular diversity intrinsic to carbohydrates and identifying novel therapeutically interesting carbohydrate-containing drugs. This review describes recent advancements in solid- and solution-phase methods that relate to the generation of carbohydrate and glycoconjugate libraries. Special attention will be dedicated to the increasing use of carbohydrates as molecular scaffolds for library synthesis.

An enantioselective oxypalladation/malononitrile addition cascade reaction of alkyne-tethered malononitriles was reported to synthesize enaminones bearing an all-carbon quaternary center. Using Pd(TFA)/Pyox as a precatalyst, an array of enaminone products were obtained in moderate overall yields, with excellent er (93.5:6.

This perpective delves into the emerging field of matere bonds, a novel type of noncovalent interaction involving group 7 elements such as manganese, technetium, and rhenium. Matere bonds, a new member of the σ-hole family where metal atoms act as electron acceptors, have been shown experimentally and theoretically to play significant roles in the self-assembly and stabilization of supramolecular structures both in solid-state and solution-phase environments. This perspective article explores the physical nature of these interactions, emphasizing their directionality and structural influence in various supramolecular architectures.

The and isomers of [Sm(dicyclohexano-18-crown-6)(HO)]I exhibiting water molecules bound to the Sm ion have been isolated and characterized. Sm possesses an electrochemical potential sufficient for water reduction, and thus these complexes add to the recent body of evidence that the oxidation of Sm by water can operate by a mechanism that is not straightforward. These complexes are obtained by the direct addition of stoichiometric amounts of water to solutions of the respective Sm(dicyclohexano-18-crown-6)I isomers under an inert atmosphere.

High-entropy alloys (HEAs) with ultrafine grained and high strength can be prepared by mechanical alloying (MA) followed by sintering. Therefore, MA, as a unique solid powder processing method, has many effects on the microstructures and mechanical properties of the sintered bulk HEAs. This work focused on the alloying behavior, morphology, and phase evolution of FeCrNiAl (x = 1.
