A series of C-5 methyl substituted 4-arylthio- and 4-aryloxy-3-iodopyridin-2(1H)-ones has been synthesized as new pyridinone analogues for their evaluation as anti-HIV inhibitors. The optimization at the 5-position was developed through an efficient use of the key intermediates 5-ethoxycarbonyl- and 5-cyano-pyridin-2(1H)-ones (14 and 15). Biological studies revealed that several compounds show potent HIV-1 reverse transcriptase inhibitory properties, for example, compounds 93 and 99 are active at 0.6-50 nM against wild type HIV-1 and a panel of major simple/double HIV mutant strains.

Cyanoacetylene and dicyanoacetylene react in the ternary methylation system CHF/SbF/SO under the formation of its corresponding -monomethylated and -dimethylated species, respectively. Additionally, in the case of dicyanoacetylene, an -dimethylated HF-addition product was obtained. The salts were characterized by low-temperature vibrational spectroscopy.

Context: This article mainly studies three isomers of CHNO, namely 5-methyl-3,4-dinitro-1- (trinitromethyl) -1H pyrazole (1), 4-methyl-3,5-dinitro-1- (trinitromethyl) -1H pyrazole (2), and 3,5-bis (dinitromethyl) -4-nitro-1H-pyrazole (3). These three substances are excellent candidates for energetic materials, but their properties under external electric fields (EEF) have not been studied. Therefore, this article studied the properties of three isomers under EEF using density functional theory (DFT), and conducted statistical analysis on the obtained data, including the molecular structure, frontier molecular orbitals, surface electrostatic potential, and nitrate charge of the three isomers.

The title compound, [Cu(CHO)(CHN)], crystallizes in the ortho-rhom-bic space group . In the crystal structure, the Cu ion is coordinated by two acetyl-acetonate ligands and one 2-amino-1-methyl-1-benzimidazole ligand. The crystal structure features intra-molecular N-H⋯O and inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, which contribute to the overall cohesion of the crystal.

A novel coordination compound, [Co()(HO)], was synthesized from aqueous solutions of Co(NO) and the ligand 2-[(5-methyl-1,3,4-thia-diazol-2-yl)sulfan-yl]acetic acid (H, CHNOS). In the monoclinic crystals (space group 2/), the cobalt(II) ion is located about a centre of symmetry and is octa-hedrally coordinated by two anions in a monodentate fashion through carboxyl O atoms and by four water mol-ecules. A relatively strong hydrogen bond between one of the water mol-ecules and the non-coordinating carboxyl-ate O atom consolidates the conformation.

The mol-ecule of the title compound, [Ni(CHO)(CHN)(HO)]·CHOH, has triclinic () symmetry. This compound is of inter-est for its anti-microbial properties. The asymmetric unit comprises two independent complex mol-ecules, which are linked by N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds along [111].
