We report integrated charge sensing measurements on a Si/SiGe double quantum dot. The quantum dot is shown to be tunable from a single, large dot to a well-isolated double dot. Charge sensing measurements enable the extraction of the tunnel coupling t between the quantum dots as a function of the voltage on the top gates defining the device. Control of the voltage on a single such gate tunes the barrier separating the two dots. The measured tunnel coupling is an exponential function of the gate voltage. The ability to control t is an important step toward controlling spin qubits in silicon quantum dots.

Piezoelectric electronics possess great potential in flexible sensing and energy harvesting applications. However, they suffer from low electromechanical performance in all-organic piezoelectric systems due to the disordered and weakly-polarized interfaces. Here, we demonstrated an all-polymer piezo-ionic-electric electronics with PVDF/Nafion/PVDF (polyvinylidene difluoride) sandwich structure and regularized ion-electron interfaces.

Subjective feelings are thought to arise from conceptual and bodily states. We examine whether the valence of feelings may also be decoded directly from objective ecological statistics of the visual environment. We train a visual valence (VV) machine learning model of low-level image statistics on nearly 8000 emotionally charged photographs.

We designed a new cyanide sensing probe by one-step synthesis and evaluated it using UV-vis and fluorescent techniques. The active moiety of (Z)-3-(4-(methylthio) phenyl)-2-(4-nitrophenyl) acrylonitrile (NCS) demonstrated fluorescence. The probe NCS showed turn-off fluorescence in the presence of cyanide (CN¯), which has a higher selectivity and sensitivity than other anions.

The detection of ammonia (NH)gas holds significant importance in both daily life and industrial production. In this study, the NbCT/MoSe sensor was synthesized using a one-step hydrothermal method and applied for NH detection. The morphology and elemental composition of the composites were analyzed through a series of characterization techniques including XRD, TEM, SEM, and XPS, confirming the successful synthesis of NbCT/MoSe composite with the optimal mass ratio.

Zn(II) ions with luminescence qualities and an amine-substituted imidazole moiety with selective recognition properties towards picric acid and ammonia are coupled to generate a novel 1D luminous Zn(II) coordination polymer, Zn-CP [{Zn(II)( 2-ABZ)2(2-BDC)}].MeOH]∞, where 2-ABZ and 2-BDC stand for terephthalic acid and protonated 2 aminobenzimidazole, respectively.
