In experiments on rats it has been shown that for prognostication of successful reanimation after the clinic death of different duration (5, 10, 15 min) correlative interactions between the parameters of behaviour in the open field before blood circulation cessation are more essential than their absolute values. Highly significant correlation coefficients (0.7 and more) between the majority of behaviour parameters were typical for the group of animals which had survived after a prolonged blood circulation cessation (15 min); for rats rehabilitated after 5- and 10-min cessation of the blood circulation--between the characteristics reflecting, basically, the motor-investigating component of the behaviour. In groups of died animals (independently on the duration of clinic death) correlation profile was restricted to characteristics determining only the character of the motor activity. Particular significance is underlined of emotionally psychic components of the behaviour for complete CNS restoration after a prolonged blood circulation cessation in comparison with the shorter ones.

Background: Autologous fat injection in facial reconstruction is a common cosmetic surgery. Although cerebral fat embolism (CFE) as a complication is rare, it carries serious health risks.
Case Summary: We present a case of a 29-year-old female patient who developed acute CFE following facial fat filling surgery.

Purpose: Despite significant improvements in the design and performance of continuous flow left ventricular assist devices (CFLVADs), one of the most important reasons hampering further penetration of this technology is the occurrence of adverse events, especially strokes. One of the well-known risk factors for strokes is hypertension which is particularly common in patients undergoing a CFLVAD implant. While the device is implanted in the heart, strokes happen due to pathology in the brain and we hypothesised that modelling the blood flow in the circle of Willis might shed light on the causation of strokes in this situation.

Decompression after diving may inevitably cause the production of bubbles in the body, even without protocol violation. Bubbles produced in the circulation may damage the vascular cells, leading to vascular dysfunction. In this study, five subjects were recruited and subjected to hyperbaric exposure (15 meters; 100 minutes).

Purpose: Vascular impairments, including reduced capillary density (CD), impaired autoregulation capacity (Reg), and elevated intraocular pressure (IOP), have been identified as significant contributors to glaucomatous disease. This study implemented a theoretical model to quantify the impact of these impairments on retinal blood flow and oxygenation as intraluminal pressure (Pa) is varied.
Methods: A theoretical model of the retinal vasculature was used to simulate reductions in CD by 10% (early glaucoma) and 30% to 50% (advanced glaucoma), a range in autoregulation capacity from 0% (totally impaired) to 100% (totally functional), and normal (15 mm Hg) and elevated (25 mm Hg) levels of IOP.
