The Effect of Polyethylene Fiber and Flowable Resin Composite on Fracture Resistance in the Restoration of Large MOD Cavities.

J Esthet Restor Dent

January 2025

Department of Restorative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Kırıkkale University, Kırıkkale, Türkiye.

Objective: This in vitro study aims to evaluate the effect of placing polyethylene fibers used in large Class II MOD (mesio-occlusion-distal) cavities into different flowable resin composites and in different positions on the fracture resistance of the restoration.

Materials And Methods: Ninety healthy human molars were used in the study. No treatment was performed on 10 of these teeth and they were used as the control group.

Moyamoya disease (MMD) is a type of cerebrovascular disease characterized by occlusion of the distal end of the internal carotid artery and the formation of collateral blood vessels. We present a case of a 60-year-old man with claudication in his right foot; the patient had received stent-graft implantation for the right superficial femoral artery (SFA) 1 year ago. Computed tomography angiography suggested stent occlusion of the right SFA, and a thrombus was considered to cause occlusion. To avoid distal embolization, we performed lesion recanalization via a trans-ankle intervention.

A Novel Method for Hemorrhage Control During Laparoscopic Distal Pancreatectomy with Splenic Vessel Preservation: Triple Occlusion.

Ann Surg Oncol

January 2025

Division of Pancreatic Surgery, Department of General Surgery, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan, China.

Introduction: Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) has the advantages of reduced blood loss, shorter hospital stays, and a better postoperative quality of life compared with open distal pancreatectomy (ODP). Meanwhile, spleen-preserving laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy is the preferred technique for low-grade malignant and benign tumors located in pancreatic body and tail, since it preserves the immune function of the spleen. The splenic-vessel-preserving (SVP) Kimura technique and splenic vessel resection Warshaw technique are the two primary procedures.

Background And Purpose: We report short- and intermediate-term effects on headaches with intra-arterial injection of lidocaine in the middle meningeal artery in patients with severe headaches associated with subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Methods: We treated seven patients with intra-arterial lidocaine in doses up to 50 mg in each middle meningeal artery via a microcatheter bilaterally (except in one patient). We recorded the maximum intensity of headache (graded by 11-point numeric rating scale) prior to procedure and every day for the next 10 days or discharge, whichever came first.
