Purpose: We recently developed prostaglandin E(1) (PGE(1))-encapsulated nanoparticles, prepared with a poly(lactide) homopolymer (PLA, Mw = 17,500) and monomethoxy poly(ethyleneglycol)-PLA block copolymer (PEG-PLA) (NP-L20). In this study, we tested whether the accelerated blood clearance (ABC) phenomenon is observed with NP-L20 and other PEG-modified PLA-nanoparticles in rats.
Methods: The plasma levels of PGE(1) and anti-PEG IgM antibody were determined by EIA and ELISA, respectively.
Results: Second injections of NP-L20 were cleared much more rapidly from the circulation than first injections, showing that the ABC phenomenon was induced. This ABC phenomenon, and the accompanying induction of anti-PEG IgM antibody production, was optimal at a time interval of 7 days between the first and second injections. Compared to NP-L20, NP-L33s that were prepared with PLA (Mw = 28,100) and have a smaller particle size induced production of anti-PEG IgM antibody to a lesser extent. NP-L20 but not NP-L33s gave rise to the ABC phenomenon with a time interval of 14 days. NP-L33s showed a better sustained-release profile of PGE(1) than NP-L20.
Conclusions: This study revealed that the ABC phenomenon is induced by PEG-modified PLA-nanoparticles. We consider that NP-L33s may be useful clinically for the sustained-release and targeted delivery of PGE(1).

In recent years, polypeptides have been standing out as excellent candidates to replace polyethylene glycol (PEG) with adequate biocompatibility and biodegradability. In this study, we found that (VELPPP), an anionic γ-zein-based proline-rich peptide with a polyproline-II helical structure, was able to impart liposomes with considerable stability and significantly prolonged blood circulation in vivo. Furthermore, we have shown that (VELPPP)-modified liposomes induced negligible anti-peptide IgM production, and no noticeable accelerated blood clearance after repeated or multi-dose administration.

Given the dearth of literature on attachment theory in the Arab world, this study explores the cross-cultural validity of attachment theory within an Egyptian sample of 60 mother-child dyads through the Strange Situation Procedure (SSP). The study examines the applicability of attachment theory's universality, normativity, and secure base hypotheses, as well as the prevalence and manifestations of insecurity in an Egyptian sample. The findings supported attachment theory's universality, normativity and secure base hypotheses, while simultaneously pointing towards cultural variations in attachment manifestations.

The different fate of liposomes among species has been discovered and mentioned in many studies, but the underlying mechanisms have not been explored. In the present work, we concentrated on the fate of PEGylated liposomes (sLip) in three commonly used species (mice, rats, and dogs). It was exhibited that the accelerated blood clearance (ABC) phenomenon and hypersensitivity in large animals (beagle dogs) were much more significant than that in rodents.

Competition phenomenon is widely presented in nature, however, few reports on the competition phenomenon between bacteria based on the perspective of quorum sensing (QS), especially between Gram-positive bacteria. Here, the Gram-positive bacteria Rhodococcus sp. HD1 and Microbacterium sp.

To systematically characterize the loss of tissue integrity and organ dysfunction resulting from aging, we produced an in-depth spatial transcriptomic profile of nine tissues in male mice during aging. We showed that senescence-sensitive spots (SSSs) colocalized with elevated entropy in organizational structure and that the aggregation of immunoglobulin-expressing cells is a characteristic feature of the microenvironment surrounding SSSs. Immunoglobulin G (IgG) accumulated across the aged tissues in both male and female mice, and a similar phenomenon was observed in human tissues, suggesting the potential of the abnormal elevation of immunoglobulins as an evolutionarily conserved feature in aging.
