Research has established a link between animal abuse and domestic violence (the Link), where the perpetrator uses the animal to control the human victim. Veterinarians are exposed to both vulnerable animals and humans, playing a crucial role in detecting and handling these cases. A study using an online survey was conducted in 2019, exploring the awareness of Swedish veterinarians regarding Non-accidental-injuries (NAI in animals, the Link between animal abuse and domestic violence and how to handle such cases.

Introduction: This article investigates the effect of power on power construal through psychological entitlement as a mediator across three empirical studies ( = 895).
Methods: We examine how people in powerful and powerless conditions construe power, with psychological entitlement as a key mediator.
Results: We uncover a nuanced association whereby people in powerful conditions predominantly adopt socialized orientations to construe power, whereas in powerless conditions, people tend to construe power as a paradox.

The dynamics of the genetic diversity of pathogens, including the emergence of lineages with increased fitness, is a foundational concept of disease ecology with key public-health implications. However, the identification of such lineages and estimation of associated fitness remain challenging, and is rarely done outside densely sampled systems. Here we present phylowave, a scalable approach that summarizes changes in population composition in phylogenetic trees, enabling the automatic detection of lineages based on shared fitness and evolutionary relationships.

Innovative therapies for hypertension are desperately needed given the rising prevalence and falling rates of control of hypertension despite an abundance of available medical therapies. Procedural interventions lower blood pressure without depending on adherence to medications, and endovascular renal denervation (RDN) is the interventional procedure with the best evidence base for the treatment of hypertension. After nearly two decades of study, with major refinements to devices, technique and trial design, two different systems for RDN received approval from the FDA in late 2023 for the treatment of hypertension.
