The ratio of two probability density functions is becoming a quantity of interest these days in the machine learning and data mining communities since it can be used for various data processing tasks such as non-stationarity adaptation, outlier detection, and feature selection. Recently, several methods have been developed for directly estimating the density ratio without going through density estimation and were shown to work well in various practical problems. However, these methods still perform rather poorly when the dimensionality of the data domain is high. In this paper, we propose to incorporate a dimensionality reduction scheme into a density-ratio estimation procedure and experimentally show that the estimation accuracy in high-dimensional cases can be improved.

Purpose: To evaluate the effects of four-dimensional noise reduction filtering using a similarity algorithm (4D-SF) on the image quality and tumor visibility of low-dose dynamic computed tomography (CT) in evaluating breast cancer.
Materials And Methods: Thirty-four patients with 38 lesions who underwent low-dose dynamic breast CT and were pathologically diagnosed with breast cancer were enrolled. Dynamic CT images were reconstructed using iterative reconstruction alone or in combination with 4D-SF.

The structure and anti-SARS-CoV-2 activity of sulfated polysaccharides (Mzpt) obtained in high yield (60 %) from tetrasporophytes of Mazzaella parksii were studied. Stepwise fractionation with KCl showed that Mzpt consisted of eight (MzptF1-MzptF8) carrageenans fractions, differing in structure and molecular weight. The yield of non-gelling MzptF8 was 58.

Background: Although existing studies have identified some genetic loci associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) susceptibility, many variants remain to be discovered. The aim of this study was to further explore the potential relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and COPD risk.
Methods: Nine hundred and ninety-six subjects were recruited (498 COPD cases and 498 healthy controls).

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a deep learning approach that restores artifact-laden optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans and predicts functional loss on the 24-2 Humphrey Visual Field (HVF) test.
Methods: This cross-sectional, retrospective study used 1674 visual field (VF)-OCT pairs from 951 eyes for training and 429 pairs from 345 eyes for testing. Peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness map artifacts were corrected using a generative diffusion model.

We propose and characterize a novel two-dimensional material, 2D-CRO, derived from bulk calcium-based ruthenates (CROs) of the Ruddlesden-Popper family, CaRuO ( = 1 and 2). Using density functional theory, we demonstrate that 2D-CRO maintains structural stability down to the monolayer limit, exhibiting a tight interplay between structural and electronic properties. Notably, 2D-CRO displays altermagnetic behavior, characterized by zero net magnetization and strong spin-dependent phenomena, stabilized through dimensionality reduction.
