Lectin-sugar recognition systems are of interest in the pharmaceutical field, especially for the development of drug carriers, tailored for selective delivery. This paper deals with the anhydrous and aqueous self-organization properties of a synthetic cholesteryl oligoethyleneglycol glycoside with the aim of their incorporation in liposomes. Successive phases (lamellar, R3m, Im3m, micelles) have been described depending on water content and temperature. As a result of the presence of sugar residues and their hydration ability, this glycolipid shows a large range of packing parameter with increasing water content. However, because of oligoethyleneglycol spacer, a slight dehydration has been observed with increasing temperature from 20 to 60 degrees C.

Transient receptor potential channel subfamily M member 3 (TRPM3) is a Ca-permeable cation channel activated by the neurosteroid pregnenolone sulfate (PregS) or heat, serving as a nociceptor in the peripheral sensory system. Recent discoveries of autosomal dominant neurodevelopmental disorders caused by gain-of-function mutations in TRPM3 highlight its role in the central nervous system. Notably, the TRPM3 inhibitor primidone, an anticonvulsant, has proven effective in treating patients with TRPM3-linked neurological disorders and in mouse models of thermal nociception.

Circularly polarized luminescent (CPL) materials have garnered considerable interest for a variety of advanced optical applications including 3D imaging, data encryption, and asymmetric catalysis. However, the development of high-performance CPL has been hindered by the absence of simple synthetic methods for chiral luminescent emitters that exhibit both high quantum yields and dissymmetry factors. In this study, we present an innovative approach for the synthesis of macro-chiral liquid crystal quantum dots (Ch-QDs/LC) and their CPL performance enhancement through doping with 4-cyano-4'-pentylbiphenyl (5CB), thus yielding a CPL-emitting generator (CEG).

The lipophilization of polyphenols (phenolipids) may increase their affinity for membranes, leading to better antioxidant protection. Cholesteryl esters of caffeic, dihydrocaffeic, homoprotocatechuic and protocatechuic acids were synthetized in a one-step procedure with good to excellent yields of ~50-95%. After evaluation of their radical scavenging capacity by the DPPH method and establishing the anodic peak potential by cyclic voltammetry, their antioxidant capacity against AAPH-induced oxidative stress in soybean PC liposomes was determined.

Recently, two-dimensional (2D) transition metal dichalcogenides (2D TMDs), such as molybdenum sulfide (MoS) and molybdenum selenide (MoSe), have been presented as effective materials for extracting the generated holes from perovskite layers. Thus, the work function of MoS can be tuned in a wide range from 3.5 to 4.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a leading cause of mortality worldwide, primarily affecting the heart and blood vessels, with atherosclerosis being a major contributing factor to their onset. Epidemiological and clinical studies have linked high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) emanating from distorted cholesterol homeostasis as its major predisposing factor. Cholesterol homeostasis, which involves maintaining the balance in body cholesterol level, is mediated by several proteins or receptors, transcription factors, and even genes, regulating cholesterol influx (through dietary intake or de novo synthesis) and efflux (by their conversion to bile acids).
