Objectives: To investigate the long-term impact of right ventricular myocardial involvement (RVI) after acute inferior ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI).
Methods: A total of 1208 consecutive patients, who survived to discharge after hospitalization for acute inferior STEMI, were studied. Patients were divided into those with (n = 459) or without (n = 749) of RVI involvement, defined as ST-segment elevation > or =1 mm in V4R. Cardiac death by 3 years was the primary study end point.
Results: By the end of follow-up, 207 (17.1%) patients had died. Patients with RVI were at similar risk for death at 3 years than those without (17.6% vs 16.8%, hazard ratio 1.1, 95% confidence interval 0.8-1.4, P = .79). By multivariate Cox analysis, several variables, but not RVI, were associated with the incidence of 3 years cardiac death.
Conclusions: Right ventricular myocardial involvement does not portend any increased risk for long-term mortality, in patients who survived to discharge after hospitalization for acute inferior STEMI.

Objective: To identify risk factors for loss to follow-up after inferior vena cava (IVC) filter placement in inpatients of other departments (IODs) and to determine whether a quality improvement project launched at our institution in April 2022 improved follow-up and filter retrieval rates in these patients.
Methods: Consecutive patients who underwent retrievable filter placement at our institution between March 2021 and March 2023 were included in this study. Patients were divided into preimprovement (before April 2022; n = 81) and postimprovement (after April 2022; n = 77) groups.
Background: Dyspnoea is one of the emergency department's (ED) most common and deadly chief complaints, but frequently misdiagnosed and mistreated. We aimed to design a diagnostic decision support which classifies dyspnoeic ED visits into acute heart failure (AHF), exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (eCOPD), pneumonia and "other diagnoses" by using deep learning and complete, unselected data from an entire regional health care system.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we included all dyspnoeic ED visits of patients ≥ 18 years of age at the two EDs in the region of Halland, Sweden, 07/01/2017-12/31/2019.

Background: Anesthetic irrigation is an effective treatment for postoperative pain suppression in patients after molar extraction, but exerts a short period of extraction. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of lidocaine with epinephrine irrigation on acute pain relief in healthy volunteers with inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) injection for the surgical removal of mesioangular (MA)-impacted third molars.
Methods: A total of 28 patients (56 samples) with bilateral MA-impacted third molars were recruited.

Retroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF) is a rare disease with a nonspecific presentation. RPF can be classified into Idiopathic, the most common, or secondary due to malignancy and various medications resulting in chronic inflammation and fibrosis in the retroperitoneum. The complications arise due to the compression of structures in the retroperitoneum.

Cognitive models posit that negatively biased attention toward dysphoric information has a causal role in the maintenance of depression-related psychopathology. Attention bias modification (ABM) tests this idea by altering an attentional bias and examining subsequent effects on depression. Prior work finds that ABM alters negatively biased attention for dysphoric information and reduces depression; however, a number of studies have failed to show these effects.
