For the first time a novel fluorescent La@ZrMOF nanomaterial was synthesized for the convenient and visual detection of ethephon (ETH) based on the ligand-metal charge transfer process. The fluorescence signal gradually enhanced as the concentration of ETH increased, accompanied by a change in the color from colorless to blue. The assay can be completed within 75 min with a detection limit of 0.

Rapid urban growth is a subject of worldwide interest due to environmental problems. Population growth, especially migration from rural to urban areas, leads to land use and land cover (LULCC) changes in urban centres. Therefore, LULCC and urban growth analyses are among the studies that will help decision-makers achieve better sustainable management and planning.

Conventional electronic chip packaging generates a huge thermal resistance due to the low thermal conductivity of the packaging materials that separate chip dies and coolant. Here we propose and fabricate a closed high-conducting heat chip package based on passive phase change, using silicon carbide which is physically and structurally compatible with chip die materials. Our "chip on vapor chamber" (CoVC) concept realizes rapid diffusion of hot spots, and eliminates the high energy consumption of refrigeration ordinarily required for heat management.

Deep phenotyping can enhance the power of genetic analysis, including genome-wide association studies (GWAS), but the occurrence of missing phenotypes compromises the potential of such resources. Although many phenotypic imputation methods have been developed, the accurate imputation of millions of individuals remains challenging. In the present study, we have developed a multi-phenotype imputation method based on mixed fast random forest (PIXANT) by leveraging efficient machine learning (ML)-based algorithms.

Transgenerational plasticity (TGP) has largely focused on how parental exposure to ecological conditions shapes the phenotypes of future generations. However, organisms acquire information about their ecological environment via social learning, which can also shape TGP in profound ways. We demonstrate that non-parents alter how parents detect and respond to environmental cues in ways that spillover to affect offspring, non-parents influence offspring even without direct physical interactions, and parental cues received by offspring can alter the phenotypes of other juveniles.
