This study investigates the potential of combining Cerium-doped bioactive glass (BBGi) with Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to enhance the properties of titanium (Ti) implant surfaces using the Matrix-Assisted Pulsed Laser Evaporation (MAPLE) technique. The primary focus is on improving osseointegration, corrosion resistance, and evaluating the cytotoxicity of the developed thin films towards host cells. The innovative approach involves synthesizing a composite thin film comprising BBGi and PVP, leveraging the distinct benefits of both materials: BBGi's biocompatibility and osteoinductive capabilities, and PVP's film-forming and biocompatible properties.

Protein phosphorylation is a highly prevalent post-translational modification that holds a vital position in numerous physiological processes. Prior to mass spectrometry detection, the enrichment of phosphopeptides is critically significant due to their susceptibility to interference from abundant non-phosphopeptides. In this study, the magnetic nanocomposite (FeO@NE@PL) was successfully synthesized and characterized.

In firearm forensic investigations, detecting gunshot residue (GSR) is crucial for linking firearms to suspects and determining firing distance for forensic reconstruction. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-ToF-MS) is emerging as a versatile and promising technological platform for fingerprint analysis. The capability of functionalized particles as an advanced dusting powder for visualizing latent fingerprints is widely recognized.

Drug-loaded polymeric micelles have proven to be highly effective carrier systems for the efficient delivery of hydrophobic photosensitizers (PSs) in photodynamic therapy (PDT). This study introduces the micellization potential of poly(oligoethylene glycol methyl ether methacrylate) (pOEGMA) as a novel approach, utilizing the hydrophobic methacrylate segments of pOEGMA to interact with highly hydrophobic zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc), thereby forming a potential micellar drug carrier system. The ZnPc molecule was synthesized from phthalonitrile derivatives and its fluorescence, photodegradation, and singlet oxygen quantum yields were determined in various solvents.

Hydrophilic peptides (HPs) play a critical role in the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, the comprehensive and in-depth high-throughput analysis of specific changes in HPs associated with HCC remains unrealized, due to the complex nature of biological fluids and the challenges of mining complex patterns in large data sets. The clinical diagnosis of HCC still lacks a non-destructive and accurate classification method, given the limited specificity of widely used biomarkers.
