ATAD1 Regulates Neuronal Development and Synapse Formation Through Tuning Mitochondrial Function.

Int J Mol Sci

December 2024

Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale, MOE Key Laboratory for Membrane-Less Organelles & Cellular Dynamics, Division of Life Sciences and Medicine, University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei 230026, China.

Mitochondrial function is essential for synaptic function. ATAD1, an AAA+ protease involved in mitochondrial quality control, governs fission-fusion dynamics within the organelle. However, the distribution and functional role of ATAD1 in neurons remain poorly understood.

Theoretical and Experimental Research on the Short-Range Structure in Gallium Melts Based on the Wulff Cluster Model.

Materials (Basel)

December 2024

Key Laboratory for Liquid-Solid Structural Evolution and Processing of Materials, Ministry of Education, Shandong University, Jinan 250061, China.

In this paper, the short-range ordering structures of Ga melts has been investigated using the Wulff cluster model (WCM). The structures with a Wulff shape outside and crystal symmetry inside have been derived as the equivalent system to describe the short-range-order (SRO) distribution of the Ga melts. It is observed that the simulated HTXRD patterns of the Ga WCM are in excellent agreement with the experimental data at various temperatures (523 K, 623 K, and 723 K).

Background: Abortion-related complications significantly contribute to maternal morbidity and mortality globally. Post-abortion care (PAC) services are essential to safeguarding women's rights by substantially mitigating the health risks associated with abortions - a step which is fundamental to achieving reproductive and maternal health-related Sustainable Development Goals.

Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of data from the nationally representative Service Provision Assessment (SPA) surveys conducted between 2015 and 2024 across three regions in seven low- and middle-income countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Ethiopia, Senegal, and Haiti.

Human tumors are diverse in their natural history and response to treatment, which in part results from genetic and transcriptomic heterogeneity. In clinical practice, single-site needle biopsies are used to sample this diversity, but cancer biomarkers may be confounded by spatiogenomic heterogeneity within individual tumors. Here we investigate clonally expressed genes as a solution to the sampling bias problem by analyzing multiregion whole-exome and RNA sequencing data for 450 tumor regions from 184 patients with lung adenocarcinoma in the TRACERx study.

Choerospondias axillaris is a medicinal plant used for treating coronary heart disease (CHD) due to its broad spectrum of anti-inflammatory activities. Cyclooxygenase 2 (COX-2) and lipoxygenase 5 (5-LOX) were immobilized on magnetic nanoparticles for selective ligand-extraction of these two enzymes present in C. axillaris.
