Background: Numerous recent reports have described the use of recombinant factor VIIa (rFVIIa) in non-hemophilia bleeding situations for achievement of hemostasis. However, its use in clinical situations other than hemophilia patients with inhibitors has been complicated by some reports of thrombotic events. rFVIIa has been used successfully to treat coagulopathic and/or bleeding neonates. The prevalence of thrombotic events in these neonates is completely unknown. This study was initiated to determine the risk of thrombotic events associated with rFVIIa use in neonates.
Procedure: All published literature in non-hemophilic, non-congenital factor VII deficient neonates receiving rFVIIa was reviewed. In addition, all data submitted to the SeveN Bleep Registry, a web-based registry of rFVIIa uses in non-hemophilic children was analyzed. As the baseline risk of thrombotic events in bleeding and/or coagulopathic neonates is not known, we also reviewed the records of 100 consecutive neonates from a single institution who received fresh frozen plasma (FFP) alone to treat their coagulopathy and/or bleeding episode.
Results: A total of 134 neonates received rFVIIa. Of these, 10 (7.5%) had a thrombotic event. The baseline risk of thrombotic events in neonates receiving FFP was 7%.
Conclusions: Overall the prevalence of thrombotic events in bleeding and/or coagulopathic neonates appears to be around 7%, whether or not they receive rFVIIa.

Long-term consumption of erythritol, a widely used sugar substitute, has been associated with increased risks of thrombosis and cardiometabolic diseases. In this study, we investigated the effects and mechanisms of allulose in mitigating these risks compared to erythritol using the clusterProfiler tool in R (version 4.12.

(1) Background: Danaparoid sodium is a heparinoid antithrombotic that has been used for over 40 years for prophylaxis of DVT in non-HIT patients and for the treatment of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) with and without thrombosis. This update summarises current information on its pharmacology and reviews danaparoid dose management in a broad spectrum of clinical situations, including off-label indications. (2) Methods: Evidence from published clinical studies, case reports, compassionate use of danaparoid, and spontaneously reported serious adverse events is summarised and analysed by an interdisciplinary expert group to develop a consensus on dosing regimens of danaparoid for complex clinical situations, including vulnerable patient populations.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the leading cause of arrhythmia-related morbidity and mortality. Recurrent symptoms, hospitalizations, and cost burden to patients have necessitated treatments beyond antiarrhythmic drugs (AADs) for patients with AF. Catheter ablation has proven to be effective over medical therapy alone; however the recurrence rates for atrial tachyarrhythmias post-ablation remain significant, particularly in patients with persistent and long-standing persistent AF.

: ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) remains a leading cause of mortality worldwide, primarily caused by acute thrombosis over atherosclerotic plaques. Simultaneous acute thrombosis in two coronary arteries is an exceptionally rare event. This report highlights a unique case of STEMI associated with cardiogenic shock due to dual coronary artery thrombosis and provides insights from a literature review on this rare condition.
