Severe community-acquired pneumonia (SCAP) significantly threats the safety of children's lives. Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) MANCR is overexpressed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) tissue, promote the proliferation, invasion, and migration, decreased cell apoptosis of LUAD cells. This study aimed to detect lncRNA MANCR levels in pediatric SCAP, and explore the diagnostic and prognostic significance of MANCR in pediatric SCAP.

Invisible health monitoring is currently a topic of global interest within the scientific community. Sensorization of everyday objects can provide valuable health information without requiring any changes in people's routines. In this work, a feasibility study of photoplethysmography (PPG) acquisition in the lower limbs for continuous and real-time monitoring of the vital signs, including heart rate (HR) and respiratory rate (RR), is presented.

The amphibian chytrid fungus, (), has been implicated as an agent of acute declines in amphibian populations worldwide. East Asian amphibians have been coexisting with for long periods and thus are considered resistant; among the many is the Japanese tree frog, . Our study focused infection effects on reproductive behaviors and physiological parameters in as a function of better understanding the chronic effect of the disease on long-term population viability.

The quality of Sichuan paocai in natural fermentation is often inconsistent due to the complexity of its microbial community and environmental influences. To address this, dominant microbial strains were selectively inoculated to improve the product's quality and safety. However, vacuum freeze-drying, commonly used to prepare direct vat set (DVS) starters, can significantly damage strains due to freezing stress.

Viruses that infect cyanobacteria are an integral part of aquatic food webs, influencing nutrient cycling and ecosystem health. However, the significance of virus host range, replication efficiency, and host compatibility on cyanobacterial dynamics, growth, and toxicity remains poorly understood. In this study, we examined the effects of cyanophage additions on the dynamics and activity of optimal, sub-optimal, and non-permissive cyanobacterial hosts in cultures of Microcystis aeruginosa and Raphidiopsis raciborskii.
