We present a case of subcutaneous flexor tendon rupture of the index finger following malunion of a distal radius fracture. The cause of the tendon rupture was mechanical attrition due to a bony prominence at the palmar joint rim in the distal radius due to malunion. Corrective osteotomy and the Sauvé-Kapandji procedure were carried out for the wrist pain and forearm rotation disability and a tendon graft was carried out for the flexor tendon rupture. Recovery was satisfactory.

The most common cause of rotator cuff injury is supraspinatus tendon tears (STTs). High-intensity laser therapy (HILT) has recently emerged as an important conservative treatment option. This study was designed as a randomised controlled trial in patients with partial STTs to compare the effects of HILT with those of ultrasound (US) therapy.

Wide-awake local anesthesia no tourniquet (WALANT) surgery has demonstrated its value in hand surgery allowing surgeons to safely operate patients in different settings outside of a formal operating room (OR). Flexor tendon lacerations have historically been repaired in the controlled setting of an OR. Plastic surgeons at our university-affiliated center have increasingly been performing flexor repairs in clinic-based procedure rooms (PRs).

Tendon/ligament-bone junctions (T/LBJs) are susceptible to damage during exercise, resulting in anterior cruciate ligament rupture or rotator cuff tear; however, their intricate hierarchical structure hinders self-regeneration. Multiphasic strategies have been explored to fuel heterogeneous tissue regeneration and integration. This review summarizes current multiphasic approaches for rejuvenating functional gradients in T/LBJ healing.

Background: Traumatic peroneal tendon dislocation (PTD) is known to occur with pilon and calcaneus fractures, however, literature describing PTD in concurrence with injury to the talus remains limited.
Methods: This was a retrospective review of adult patients with operatively treated talus fractures treated at a level I academic trauma center between 2007 and 2021. Charts, radiographs, and advanced imaging, when available, were reviewed for patient demographics, injury characteristics, and complications.

Achilles tendon rupture is a common and serious condition that remains a challenge in the restoration of tendon structure and function. The design and use of high-performance piezoelectric materials serve as an effective solution to enhance repair outcomes, shorten recovery times, and reduce the risk of recurrence. In this study, we prepared a chitosan piezoelectric gel (CSPG) as an organic polymer with excellent biocompatibility, stretchability, and piezoelectric properties as well as excellent antibacterial properties.
