Introduction: Measurement of vessel stenosis using ultrasonography or magnetic resonance is still the principal method for determining the severity of carotid atherosclerosis and need for endarterectomy.

Case Outline: A 56-year-old male was admitted to the Cardiovascular Institute "Dedinje" due to a clinically asymptomatic restenosis of the operated left internal carotid artery (ICA). Angiography and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) in previous hospitalization had revealed occluded right ICA. However, routine duplex ultrasonography revealed a high-grade restenosis (85%) of the left ICA and subocclusion of the right ICA by an ulcerated plaque (confirmed on repeated MRA).

Conclusion: Selective arteriography examination could misrepresent the degree of stenosis especially in patents with the ICA that seems to be occluded. MRA is considered the method of choice for identifying pseudo-occlusions of ICA.

Background: Tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) improve prognosis in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Nilotinib and ponatinib, second- and third-generation TKIs, respectively, have been reported to cause adverse vascular occlusive events such as myocardial infarction and peripheral arterial disease. However, little is known about the risk of cerebral infarction associated with severe cerebrovascular stenosis, which is a late complication of TKIs.

Introduction: Allergic fungal rhinosinusitis (AFRS) is a distinct subset of chronic rhinosinusitis characterized by a type I hypersensitivity to fungi. Immunocompromised patients are at increased risk for fungal infections. This case highlights the complexities of managing AFRS in patients not eligible for surgery.

Objective: The objective of this study was to discuss the characteristics of intracranial extension in patients with juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) and propose and an algorithm for its management.

Methods: A retrospective chart review of all patients with JNA who underwent operations between January 2013 and January 2023 was done, and those cases with intracranial extension categorized as stage IIIb, IVa, and IVb according to the Andrews modification of the Fisch staging classification were included in the study. Data were collected about age at presentation, symptoms, radiological findings, routes of intracranial extension, therapeutic management, and follow-up.

Many strokes from a single non-stenosing plaque: from the last event a light to the first one?

Introduction: Large artery atherosclerosis is a relevant cause of ischemic stroke. Beyond carotid artery stenosis ≥ 50%, causative in etiological classification of stroke, non-stenosing plaques are an increasingly reported cause of stroke with embolic pattern.

Methods: We are presenting the case of a 56 years old woman presenting with a first symptomatic multifocal ischemic stroke in the right internal carotid artery (ICA) territory on 2018 and a finding of asymptomatic past vascular injury in the same vascular territory on neuroimaging studies.

Vascular cognitive impairment and dementia (VCID), resulting from chronic cerebral hypoperfusion, represent the second most prevalent form of dementia globally. Aerobic exercise is widely acknowledged as an effective intervention for various cognitive disorders. This study utilized a bilateral common carotid artery stenosis (BCAS) model to investigate whether aerobic exercise promotes cognitive recovery through the Annexin-A1 (ANXA1)/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) axis in BCAS mice.
