Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity of near-infrared light reflection for detecting different depths of proximal caries in posterior teeth and to compare it with commonly used clinical oral examinations and bitewing radiography images.

Methods: Twenty-six patients with a total of 516 proximal surfaces were included in this study. The ground truth of the proximal caries was determined through a consensus reached by two experienced dentists after an intraoral examination assisted by bitewing radiographs.

Objectives: The aim of this pilot study is to assess the feasibility of using the mobile photographic method (m-health) of teledentistry for oral screening and triaging of older patients living in aged care homes.

Methods: The study took place in 2023 in four aged care facilities in Egypt. Three trained dentists performed clinical oral examinations of the participants and filled in the World Health Organization (WHO) oral health assessment form.

Schwannomas, benign tumours derived from Schwann cells, exhibit slow growth rates and are commonly found extracranially in the head, neck and extremities. However, intraoral and salivary gland schwannomas are less frequent. Ancient schwannomas, characterised by histological degenerative changes, represent a rare variant.
