Background: Diagnostics for neurodegenerative diseases lack non-invasive approaches suitable for early-stage biochemical screening and routine examination of neuropathology. Biomarkers of neurodegenerative diseases pass through the brain-nose interface (BNI) and accumulate in nasal secretion. Sample collection from the brain-nose interface presents a compelling prospect as basis for a non-invasive molecular diagnosis of neuropathologies.

The most acute problem of state health care system is shortage of medical personnel, both physicians and paramedics. The retrospective analytical descriptive study was carried out using continuous method based on studying dynamics of personnel support with otolaryngologists in the Russian Federation in general, Federal Okrugs and particular Subjects of the Russian Federation for 2018-2023.

The article presents results of quantitative sociological surveys based on original on-line questionnaire that allows to assess professional competence of otorhinolaryngologists in prescribing antibiotics to patients with acute and chronic rhinosinusitis. The professional potential of otorhinolaryngologists within the framework of national security strategy in the field of public health. The pilot approbation was carried out in February-December 2023 by means of quantitative sociological on-line survey of 627 otorhinolaryngologists from 32 subjects of the Russian Federation.

Aim: We identified geographic distribution of Otorhinolaryngologist, Head and Neck surgeons in Aotearoa New Zealand. To identify the future workforce pipeline, we explored trainee intentions for specialist practice.
Method: A survey was distributed to all New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (NZSOHNS) members and all current New Zealand Otolaryngology, Head and Neck surgery trainees.

Background: The primary goal of perioperative antibiotics is to reduce the rate of surgical site infections (SSI); however, in certain surgical procedures, the use of perioperative antibiotics has been shown to have no impact on the rate of SSI. Inappropriate use of antimicrobials increases cost, potential side effects and further promotes antibiotic resistance. This study aims to provide insight into the adherence of South African otorhinolaryngologists to available evidence-based international guidelines.
